I've been hissing at my dogs like Cesar for years. It has been the best training vocalization I ever figured out after a lifetime being around dogs.
I bet Mama Milan is great with animals too. I'm sure the best kind of abuela as well.

I use a similar sound we make in the Pacific Islands (again with both children and animals lol). Right now every time you hiss, my dog is getting triggered like, "What? What did I do? What's going on?" 🤣

How do I do the neck pinch?

We just adopted an 18 mo black mouth cur from the humane society of Tampa bay and he is kind of wild on the leash. Barks and growls at everyone passing by the patio or front door. I'm trying to do the noise but it's not working. Maybe I'm not doing it right.

Growing up in a Filipino family you know you're doing something wrong if you hear the Tsch sound from your parents and don't dare ignore it cause you'll get punished if you do

Just rewatching some of these, and had to giggle. Horse people especially trainers and instructors (I do both, but theses days mainly rehab/train/retrain, last chance and or aggressive rescue horses). It’s a very similar sound. The woman I learned from said no clue where it came from, but it’s pretty universal among most horse people no matter location, or discipline. I use that same noise training my dogs, and sadly I feel like I may have used it with my children when correcting them as little ones also lol. But I get it! It’s like the penny can when my father taught me to train dogs (he was a dog trainer and rescuer) that unique noise, that came out of no where, was Loud and distracting. I know now, it doest have to be loud, to be attention grabbing, or distracting it’s the energy and inflection you put behind such a noise. With large 1,000 +lb animals often so scared they will kill you, to save themselves..,You need to place a lot of force, inflection and dominance into every noise and body language. The “aggressive” (bs of course) dogs we rescue and take in, are often the same, large, angry, scared, misjudged, abused, babies just trying to save themselves. So those noises ahead of contact are always huge. As always love you, your techniques and theories. Better humans would make a better world all around! ❤️

I used the Tsch! with my Golden. And he learned to really listen to the different meanings. It could just mean, ‘Hey, make sure you’re staying on a close heel.’ ‘Focus here, that’s not important’. ‘Don’t go over there!’ I guess in a way it really just told him to think about what he was doing and make whatever correction necessary. He died recently. I’m getting another puppy. And I’ll use the same techniques with my new puppy.

I use that sound when my puppy is being bad and when she barks or if she jumps up at me and I wish that you could come and teach me how to train my puppy Nova I do wish that cause I like what you do
