I'm sorry your mum has dementia
ОтветитьNo, no, no, Maureen you are correct. Authors were top guns in the 60s and 70s. I have to tell you TV was worth watching because of all the different ideas. I LOVED Milton Friedman, the Nobel winner economist. (OK! I know I sound a little "off", but I really did have his poster!) Leon Uris, Barbara Tuchman, Shelby Foote, I could go on and on. Recently there was a question by someone in the comments about all the books and bookcases they saw in people's homes in old photos. The question was, "Did they really read all those books or were they for show?". Really??? YES!!! WE READ THE DAMN BOOKS!!!! We talked about important things. God, I so miss those days! I sacrificed in order to get this or that book. I wouldn't turn on my heat, for example. I would eat peanut butter for weeks to get a book. I have over the past 5 years gotten rid of most my books because I don't want burden my niece when I die. It was like getting saying goodbye to old friends. Yes, beautiful Maureen, you are correct, it was a good time for the brain. A good time for original thought. A good time for the beauty of art. I miss it!
ОтветитьI dunno...Erica had a moment waaay back. She wasn't a genius writer ..no one would say she was.
ОтветитьMy mom died from dementia/ Alzheimers. Her mother is suffering from dementia. This is cruel.
ОтветитьErica / Molly were famous for fifteen minutes.
ОтветитьMolly sounds like Marge Simpson to me. Yikes!
ОтветитьShe looks 66 not 46 years old
ОтветитьYes, in the seventies people read. And normal people led interesting lives. And they dressed better and were even sexy looking.
ОтветитьJennette McCurdy actually wrote this book well, “I’m glad my Mom died.”
ОтветитьHer hair is ugly. Far more sad? She's ugly on the inside. She needs personal space while her husband is going into heart surgery. That's ugly; and hair does not engender sypathy; at what 75? Good golly miss Molly! Narcissist sociopath much? I'm not quite as sharp as Maureen, but she seems like what Stephen King describes as moronic evil his book Salem's Lot. Maureen? Razor sharp. Okay who else thinks Maureen is beautiful? Maureen's show is my guilty pleasure. She is spot on a lot.
ОтветитьLove your new look!
ОтветитьA 70's flat blonde hairdo shouldn't be throwing stones.
ОтветитьYou’re middle aged and have hair that is an unnatural color. Pot - kettle. Bye
ОтветитьMaureen … thank you for vetting these POS authors so we don’t have to read any of this crap!
ОтветитьTotally right about the decline of discourse in pop culture.
In The Death of The Liberal Class by Chris Hedges tell us all about it, what happened since WWII, The Red Scare, etc.
Snarky meanness increasing. Entertainment value decreasing.
ОтветитьAn only child. That's all I need to know.
ОтветитьI’ve read Fear of Flying and loved it. Don’t think I’ll be reading How To Lose Your Mother soon. Thank you for your service, Maureen.
ОтветитьI am 62 yo and I have never felt silenced, not really and I can and have stood up for myself as well as many others.
Ответитьfunny, she always seemed unpleasant and kinda dumb when i'd see her on msnbc etc & thought i was the only one who saw that because why is she on so much? & it wasn't about her views, she was just dumb.
strangely comforting that others can see it too. have a nice day.
Awww, Jackie Collins. I miss her so much! She was so much fun to watch on talk shows!🎉❤
ОтветитьMolly Jong-Fast is wonderful writer and very intelligent political commenter. She is devoted to her mom, Erica Jong, but it’s now her turn to tell her own story instead of having Erica tell it for her. Love them both - especially Erica and her incredible and funny writing. Molly’s had to take over as her mother and step father fell into decline, while taking care her husband and his serious cancer diagnosis. Her book on these topics answers a lot of questions I’d always wondered about. Well worth the read.
ОтветитьYou are so right Maureen. Bill Buckley, Gore Vidal, Joan Didion had intellect and wit and character we could enjoy on late night talk shows. We have disintegrated to the likes of Molly Jong and nepo-babies and instagram blabbers on morning “news”. Shameless.
ОтветитьGreat intellect and wit!
ОтветитьI forgot, we used to be quite literary…I remember talking about books…Cuckoo’s Nest, “Catch 22, Portnoy’s” Complaint”on and on…
ОтветитьA breath of fresh air.
ОтветитьI never realized who this was as I was flipping through stations and as always bypassing MSNBC for good reason. I just thought she was a dead--ringer for Melissa Sue Gilbert, and listening to her speak she sounds like Gilbert Gottfried......ugh
ОтветитьYou tell it Sista! Sometimes they're just assh*les!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
ОтветитьThese wankers show no respect to their parents it’s sickening.
ОтветитьI read her mother's book when it came out. I can't remember what it was about (I will look again). But many things shocked me in those days). It now floors me a daughter would say these things. Trump haters are an odd bunch. So be it.
ОтветитьNot bright? I am not emotionally invested in the women you are talking about but you can't even pronounce JONG correctly.
ОтветитьGreat story! Very well told.
ОтветитьDummy
ОтветитьThat was some awesomeness! I think you should do a pole on the ages of your audience. I am a boomer the last of them. I am just interested on the ages of some of these people commenting love your show.
ОтветитьDon't dial back the profanity. It makes you, you. And it's so refreshing.
ОтветитьCan't wait till you take on the Fox News anchors!
ОтветитьThe only thing worse is if she did the audiobook and hearing those words with her insane vocal fry.
ОтветитьMs. Molly sure does say "like" a lot for a professed intellectual.🙄
ОтветитьMJF is the only person I had to block on Twitter. She enraged me with her bias bullshit. The only person more detestable than her is another old cat lady Taylor Lorenz. She's the Gilbert Godfrey of females.
ОтветитьLove the dementia comments.
ОтветитьMolly Jong-Slow😂😂😂!!!
ОтветитьYou really do seem like a very unhappy person.
Ответитьyour fake hair is no prize
ОтветитьI'm glad Maureen, and society at large, are increasingly calling out nepo babies and their entitlement. Molly "Jong" Fast is essentially valueless on every level. She changed her name after the fact to include the "Jong" which wasn't even the name of either her father or her mother at the time of her birth, clearly in order to shoe-horn it in there to cash in on name-recognition; then has the audacity to bitch about it afterwards. The only more obvious one was Melissa "Rivers" who changed her name so she could be recognized for her mother Joan River's fame. She rightly got roasted as winning the year's "Golden Hanger-On Award" Jesus please make these aimless celeb offspring go away.
ОтветитьHow dare she!!!!🐨
ОтветитьSpot on! Their dignity!🐨
ОтветитьHave you read the book? It is absolutely brilliant. I am not sure you know what you are talking about. And it is not just what I think. The book was very well-reviewed.
