We love the midewest, born and raised right here in Ohio. I'm not too thrilled with the idea of a bunch of radicals moving in here from blue places, and trying to turn Ohio into cali.

That is what would happen, if these people living in blue states move here and haven't figured out its the stuff they vote in themselves that cause them hardship.

IMO, in the near future, a drastically changing climate, starting with catastrophic weather, heat and drought conditions in coastal and other regions, the Midwest with it's relatively stable climate, and abundance of water will become attractive to migrants, and businesses sooner than later. Cities that are now the butt of jokes like Cleveland and Detroit will see massive development and investment. As well as states like IL, MI, WI, and OH.

For renters, the rents in WI & IL are half of Florida, & the pay is at least 50% higher. No balmy winters, but you will get ahead financially.

Small villages in rural areas surrounding metros are stupid cheap. I saw a home/property like mine (5 acres, outbuildings, 200k) in CA that was for sale for 3M+.

Starter homes that could use a little work are 50-80k. But people complain that there's no high paying jobs...they don't understand you don't need to make as much. They can't understand supply, demand, high interest no matter how much you explain it to them.
