I dont really understand this note value stuff but i guess the time signature bars and beats make sense i guess

So, my band sent this video around today -- we certainly need the help. I understand the (mathematical) meanings of the various time signatures, but not the significance.
Also, I'm about to watch the linked video, hopefully that one helps with that....

Thanks for the clarity of the explanation. While watching, I feel like I understand any piece and sentence of it - but then I'm left with the feeling that I'm still missing some crucial point. Maybe it's be cause I've a mathematical leaning brain with very little (if any) musical aptitude.

So what would be the difference in 4:4 at 160 BPM and 4:8 at 80 BPM

It would really help if you explained how the lower number influences the number of beats instead of just naming them. You telling me that it's called a quaver or something else is informative but unintuitive

Very well introductory video on time signatures. Just watched a stupid video of a drummer explaining the time signatures and i kid you not his demo of the common time signatures was quite comprehensive- sounded more like different beats smooshed together!

Quavers and the like only complicate the lesson. Sorry. Dumb it down.
