Forgive my ignorance, but is the name of this movie “the greatest showman” I recently saw the Britain’s got talent audition where the woman who actually sang this song in the movie performed it live and got the golden buzzer

i read somewhere that barnum didn't liked/loved jenny lind, he just wanted the fame and recognition that jenny brought to him. i think it explains why after he looked at jenny, he looked at the crowd and he was so happy to see them in awe because he knew it's the start of something big for him.

This film had so much ridiculous talent in it. The music, he acting, the singing, the dancing on top of being based on a true story.

She is actually lip singing this song and not actually the person singing in this scene. The lady who actually is singing the song is Lauren and I don’t know her last name. She can be found if you look up Britains got talent.

Responding to the unnecessarily rude and harsh comments being made against both Rebecca Ferguson (who portrayed Jenny Lind) and Loren Allred (who actually sang this song) complaining about the dubbing: lay off! Because not everyone is a double or triple threat (acting/singing/dancing) Hugh Jackman’s a triple as is Zach Efron. Some singers just can’t act or even dance such that they can carry a movie role. Lip synching in movies is so common and classic the 1950s movie Singing in the Rain starring Debbie Reynolds actually saw her portraying a young artist dubbing for a silent film star and, despite Ms. Reynolds’s vocal talents, they used singer Betty Noyes (uncredited) for most of Debbie’s songs. Audrey Hepburn, actress and trained ballerina, did not sing for My Fair Lady. If you compare her singing Moon River in Breakfast at Tiffany’s to the strong clear wide range needed for My Fair Lady, you’d understand that dubbing decision. Mary Martin, famous Broadway performing triple threat was not considered pretty enough up close to take her Tony winning stage roles into movies. Julie Andrews played Eliza Doolittle on stage but was too tall and sturdy so they chose Hepburn’s delicate build and face instead. Fans of Ms. Andrews deeply resented her not getting cast especially when the singing had to be dubbed. Of course, she hit it out of the ballpark with Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music so…

In The Greatest Showman, Jenny Lind, the very real and world famous Swedish Nightingale, had vivid red hair, classic features, and was considered the most best singer in the Western world at the time, not only for ballads but her roles in opera. Actress Rebecca Ferguson was also born in Sweden and, at age 40, had the gravitas to play the role of Jenny Lind but, according to her, not the voice. At the time of casting, Loren Allred preferred to “stay behind the scenes” (her own words) only emerging six years later.

As a devotee of musicals from a young age who performed in high school and college musicals, I was crushed when, at a young age, I discovered not all the stars I saw in movie musicals sang or even danced all their own material. I eventually got over it. I wish both Ms. Ferguson and Ms. Allred the best in their respective careers. There’s no need to compare or trash talk so please, everyone, just stop it!
