Parrying normal attacks does have a benefit now... its the same benefit as blue attacks when it comes to the minor enemies, you gain armor from it.

They added that sometime ago to make it easier to survive melee brawls, relying on blue attacks or executes for mere one block of armor just isnt fun, when youre surrounded by two dozen enemies.
