I would like to see someone do an extensive test of the 4090 and its power consumption under parameters, up to 60Hz, up to 4K from 1080p.

I told you (and that other guy)AMD wouldn’t catch it this Gen.😊 The jump was too massive.

When you compare it to the 3090 it seems like a good deal. Compare it to the RTX 3080. The RTX 3080 was close to the RTX 3090 in terms of gaming performance. The RTX 3080 was the deal in the 30 series. It gave close to RTX 3090 levels of performance for less than half the price. We have nothing like that in the 40 series.

Its a good deal compared to the 3090, which was absolutely terrible value. Honestly I can't see why you wouldn't go with the 7900xtx at least where I live it was on sale last week for half the price of the 4090. And if you don't care too much about ray tracing the performance isn't that much different.

As much as it costs it should give you a "reach around" and make you breakfast.

Classic Nvidia miser attitude. Now they are limiting video ram amount on their top premium GPU rather than upping the amount. Is there going to be an RTX 4090ti? And do you think their next top card if it is the RTX 5090, will that card 'only' have 24 GB too? I'm stating that for games to play their best at 1080p, you really need 16 GB, so, do you actually need only 24 GB for a card that is suppose to play 4k resolution games that require at least 4 times the video ram memory to have sufficient FPS? What it means is that you need closer to 64 GB of video memory which no one is supplying.

It’s too big and too expensive. It also requires a lot of power.

It does not use the latest HDMI port unlike the AMD 7900 XTX and instead chose the older connector.

Idk I went with 4080 instead I could of ez got 4090, I didn’t want my house to burn down so I took 4080 and it’s been solid 4k specially with 7900x and 64gb ddr5 6000

HOLD UP I FOUND A LOOPHOLE!!! The intel arc a770 comes with 16gb vram so get 2 onto 1 motherboard and that’s 32gb vram for only 600 bucks

At this point I'd say rather than upping the tdp, increase efficiency so that the highest end card doesn't require more than 300w power at peak

Regarding power draw - Undervolt or power limit it like I have and it's actually extremely efficient. That in turn also lowers heat output and fan noise. As for the big cooler, I personally like it because I prioritise cooling over small case asthetics.

The problem is very rarely the card itself but the pricing. Another big issue in recent years is the rebrand of xx80 series chips to xx90 with a doubling in price.
Nvidia has become way too powerful in the gpu market and since they dont earn their money in the desktop Segment anymore they dont really have to worry about it

The problem is the price/perf of the rest of the lineup is now matched to the cost no object card, and the market has been locked to this ridiculous idea

Thing is you haven’t been able to get it under 1800 since launch and that’s the shitty gigabyte model a real decent model is easily over 2k which is just insane the 4080 is going for the price of the 4090s msrp I wanted to buy nvidia but it’s impossible to find any at msrp so I switched to amd
