In my opinion the downfall of the luftwaffe began with the Battle of Britain. just not needed, as Britain was not strong enough to be an offenive threat, just enough to be a credible defence, it wasted its increasing power, wasted resources, money on fantastic and advanced designs too far ahead of their time, their 'wunderwaffe' was fantasy at the time, when basically, only a proven, standardized design produced in high numbers were what was needed. They came so close to capturing Moscow, what difference an un-depleted luftwaffe could have made in Barbarossa?

Few things…lack of quality fuels, materials and they kept their aces in the field instead of sending them home to Germany to train new recruits…all axis powers suffered from this

The reason for the Nazi downfall was due to those funding both sides since Waterloo called the robber barons! If they would have given them full control over their government etc the world would of had a different world war! The third world war which is almost here will take out 90-95% of the world population just like they wanted to do back then. The information is all written down but nobody reads actual history books anymore. The history channel only tells you what they want you to believe not the actual history of the world! Remember that when watching history channel!

They had limited access to all types of fuel towards the end. They could make syn oil, but NOT syn fuel. Also, deep Russian Mud, and the harsh winters teamed up with Russians, to kick their arses

Can it carry bombs?, for the 262,the heinkel 280 could have been the other jet, both could have been ready for the bomber offensive, glad things worked out the way they did, but the misuse of the jet tech was critical

My World history teacher had an answer to this question and brought facts to the table:
The problem of the Third Reich was its government and the overlap of power from which only the Fuhrer could settle the problems.
He said the Germans had over 60 different missile programs that were all independent and did not share information.
And I’m sure this was all standard throughout the type of government
regime.

Russia had a mirror government but without Lend/Lease would have capitulated to the Germans before 1943.

Also even though Germany in late 1940 controlled 2/3 s of production when they invaded a country they seized technology and sent it back disrupting the production.
In the end they were their own worst enemy.

Stupidity was the reason!!! Everyone around and including Hitler was only about themselves and no one else. For God's sake, he put Albert Speel, an "ARCHITECT" in charge of parts of the military and Hitler fired field commanders that proved they didn't have the hardware to do what he wanted and installed people completely out of their realms.

Some rather debatable comments at the start of this.. The Luftwaffe was large but not all necessarily great. The Spitfire was an even match to the 109. The JU87 was really obsolete, the HE 111 was underpowered and couldnt carry much of a load, ok the JU 88 was good. But no heavy bombers. The Germans werer over confident and didnt fully understand how much force was needed to defeat a defensive and motivated force (just like Russia has in Ukraine).

they are deadly at first and superior, but their problem is that they have few resources, with their country being small, they have to rely on other countries' resources for research and development...so sooner or later they will lose to allies who have lots of resources and help each other.

Listening to Captain Brown is always fascinating. The fundamental issue was that the RLM, unlike MAP, lacked control over focusing on specific types of aircraft. German engineers were permitted to experiment with various projects, while British and Allied engineers were strategically focused on a single object to secure victory in the war. Undoubtedly, German manufacturers were already working on the materiel back foot even before the war began. BMW even mentioned that they had to redesign the 801 crankshaft three times and the valves nine times due to material restrictions. Furthermore, the crankcase for the 801 took twice as long to manufacture as the Wright engine but half as long again, as the Bristol engine. The fuel injection system was also ten times longer to manufacture than the British and American carburettors. These fundamental production delays effectively secured the air battles even before the FW190 was delivered. As BMW stated, the only way they could compete with the production of the Merlin and Pratt & Whitney engines was by switching to the axial flow jet 003 engine, which reduced parts manufacturing and assembly from 1325 hours to 370 hours excluding fuel injection. The limited specialised materials available significantly reduced the operation time of the engine.

I’ve always wondered what had been the difference to Whittle‘s jet engine if they had come up with afterburners at the time, possibly with the materials that they had at that time the heat from the afterburners would have been too much probably.
