ОтветитьOne of MC Escher's printing methods.
ОтветитьFirst time I've seen the process ~ Very impressed.
Ответитьbeautyfull
ОтветитьSo is the image drawn onto the copper, or is an image printed onto the plate before you ink it and print on paper?
Ответитьhelll Can i laser engrave the copper plate instead of what you did? Let me know Thank you
ОтветитьGreat work!
ОтветитьAwesome 🙂👌👌👌👌👏👏👏
ОтветитьLov it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ответитьan extraordinary old process made modern and fresh - thank you
Ответитьthanks for posting this video ! it was exactly all the information i wanted :)
ОтветитьVery interesting!! I have two huge Mezzontints very old , where can I get them apraised?
ОтветитьI’m here because of MR James.
ОтветитьIt's awesome! Thank you for this video.
ОтветитьThank you.
ОтветитьReally interesting to see exactly how the process works. Thanks!
ОтветитьOoooh, the idea of scraping the roughness out rather than drawing with roughness is so smart.
I learned about this process by randomly surfing wikipedia, but I could not understand anything describe there. This video makes it soo clear though. Super nice.
It is so amazing to know that this was the principal printing technique at one time and see just how labor intensive it is; really cool, thank you!
ОтветитьImpressive
ОтветитьINSAAAAAANE. I can only imagine the elation you'd feel when the print is finally on the paper. I came here from looking up John Martin's Mezzotints for John Milton's Lost Paradise, having no idea what a mezzotint is. Now that I know my mind is completely blown. He must of been so stoked when he lifted the paper and saw all his hard work. Phenomenal. Thank you for this and amaaazing art work.
ОтветитьHas anyone ever made an actual mezzotint of the mezzotint in the MR James story “The Mezzotint”? 😁
ОтветитьThank you for sharing all your great vid
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьI ended up here after reading the story by M.R. James called "The Mezzotint"
ОтветитьThank you for sharing this! Great tutorial on how mezzotint is done!
ОтветитьNice tutorial. I kept thinking there might be a faster way to prepare the plate? like a press with a roller tooth bit that is large enough to do the whole plate at once? You could run the plate through the press multiple times at different angles. Just like your printing press but the roller has direct contact with the plate. The roller is hard metal (like the rocker) and has the desired number of teeth per unit of surface.
ОтветитьSuccinct and detailed overview of this technique - without a doubt the best out there. Nice use of Death in Vegas too !
ОтветитьGreat video. I love graphic work and technique explanations in galleries aren't always enough. I liked the brevity, clarity (you can't always follow the mumbled or excitable voice-overs in YT videos!). And you really get a sense of the physical demands of the process. (Plus a Death in Vegas soundtrack, too!). Cheers.
ОтветитьThank you. Studying for my art class
ОтветитьThank you for this, it helped me so much w my studies!
ОтветитьI rocked and rolled the plate a little too hard and I got a curious print, I got the effect of an old and blurred photograph. Very nice although I don't think I did any good to the rocker
Ответитьvery cool and insane skill and very cool editing of the video , i am in awe , thank you for this video 👍👍👍💛💛💛 it is the first time i even saw any good prints in mezotint
ОтветитьThis was a very helpful video that really solidified what I had previously tried to grasp through reading only. Truly a beautiful work of art as well. Thanks for sharing with us.
ОтветитьIt appears from the comments that everyone is enthralled by this technique and demonstration. However, I must take the opposite view. I have always viewed mezzotint as an unnecessarily laborious process, and actually as a method that results in prints that, in my opinion, tend to be less incisive and less exciting than traditional more linear intaglio methods. Therefore, part of what I am saying is that the results do not really justify the monumental number of hours in physical labor involved. I am extremely familiar with etchings and engravings over the centuries, and when I think of my favorite artists or mentors, I never think of any who engaged in mezzotints. Essentially, I consider mezzotint to be a minor art in the arena of intaglio.
ОтветитьAmazing
ОтветитьWow!! Very impressive
ОтветитьWow
ОтветитьJust wondered what rocker
gauge did you use for this video
Came here after reading the horror story by M.R. James.
Ответитьniesamowite
ОтветитьExcellent explanation
ОтветитьI need to know what kind of material for the plate!???
Ответить❤❤❤
ОтветитьGreat video!
ОтветитьBeautiful! The copper plate perhaps is just as beautiful as the final print. Came here from looking how they created the old style Kupferstich in Germany in the Renaissance, wonderful to see that this art form is still used!
ОтветитьGreat video thank you
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьMany thanks Julie. It's a well explaination of the technique. I was intriguing by what it was after reading a famous short story by M.R James of the same name. I wish I could have the mezzotint displayed on the video, it's very beautiful actually.
ОтветитьAmazing video! Thank you for the through description of this process. If it is alright, we are going to share the video with out audience (with credits of course) to give them a better understanding of the time and effort it took to create such a beautiful image. Bravo!!
