In 1992, Chinese people striding forward on the road of modernization joined people worldWIDE in embarking on the road of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. Two years later, China's Biodiversity Conservation Action Plan and the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Nature Reserves, the first legislation specifically for nature reserves, were issued. Five years later, China launched a series of major ecological projects to protect natural forests and return farmland to forest. Seven years later, the national Wildlife Protection and Nature Reserve Project was officially launched.
