Sergio is right about expanding the ping on regular rides to 30 seconds and Harry is right about opting in or out on Trip Radar.

Get rid of radar and have the same thing that InstaCart has. When you dismiss a trip that your not interested it, it pops at you with a higher amount but you never see the trip again unless its been surged

Trip radar only purpose is to avoid sending ridiculous trips on a regular pings which in turn will decrease your ACCEPTANCE RATE, so if you don’t reject they can show in their numbers a high acceptance rate and happy drivers.

Uber created Trip Radar in order to pay the drivers LESS. Uber knew that showing destination info to drivers would result in cherrypicking and HIGHER driver pay. Thus they created Trip Radar in order to render cherrypicking much less effective. Regular pings are shown to one driver at a time. Trip Radar is shown to several drivers at a time. The more drivers that view ride requests, the sooner the request will be accepted. The result is LOWER pay. Trip Radar also causes drivers to bid against each other. The result is LOWER pay. Trip Radar is a disaster for the drivers.

Beside: declining trip radar lowers your acceptancy too .Uber is like forcing you to accept everything

The only time it pings is when I'm waiting at the airport. But It always says another driver was a better match. It's like a tease! Just send the rides as a regular request. It's not really necessary...

I think I agree with Harry on this one. There should be an option for only trip radar or an option for the pings. That way it would avoid these unnecessary throttles. Sometimes they will send me a super sweet trip radar request and right as I go click it I get hit with a ping for an Uber share and I end up clicking the Stupid Uber Shared instead. It’s so freaking annoying whenever they do that. Or when they cascade a whole bunch of annoying trip radar requests that I have no desire traveling 21 minutes 20 miles to pick up someone with two stops while busy hour. It’s like just throw me pings instead and then let me decide if I want to take it or not. Or just throw me only trip radar request and let me decide if I want to take it or not. Don’t add any other variables because it just adds confusion and frustration. so in that aspect, yes it’s better to just keep them separate and it adds peace of mind.

I'd say 95% of my trips are a combination of Reserved Rides (I typically have upto 6 ready for the following day) and direct pings.

My issues with trip radar
1) the extra step to bring up the trip(s).
2) it takes too long to decide a lot of the time. Sometimes up to like 20 seconds or more. The Algo needs to be good enough for it to be instantaneous. Especially if youre on the freeways passing multiple exits while it decides.
3) When it comes in as a ping anyway. This can be double-edged though. Sometimes, it actually saves me because im not a driver who sits and waits around. I am always moving. Uber on the whole doesnt offer me a lot of bad trips. But on the rare occasion it does it normally hits trip radar first. Ill go offline for 60 seconds -2 minutes to get away from it to avoid it coing in as a direct ping. That works about 90% of the time.


I do like trip radar at events, airports, and bad weather
*its amazing for snowy days. Im not a cherry-picking driver. I have a 98-100% acceptance rate. But snow storms are a money making machine if you have solid driving skills. I will cherry-pick here. Trip radar makes it easy to find the biggest bonus for the shortest trips (Ive seen as high as +$40 for trips less than 5 miles)

So, for me, it has its postives and negatives. If it was consistently faster in deciding who gets the ride, I probably wouldnt even bothering mention any complaints about it.

Trip radar has to go! It is unsafe and compromises the quality of the customer service. I almost always drive for Lyft now because of trip radar and ubers 7 minute wait time for the customer to get into the car. Trip radar gives me one more thing to look for when I get a request. That is if it is an exclusive. Trip radar is Ubers way of matching the rider to the driver that they can pay the least without any regard to the customer. We as drivers are in a service industry and this doesn't provide the best service and riders in my area are noticing longer wait times. I tell them to try Lyft and see if they have a better experience.

Get rid of UBER all together. Use the app to convert the ppl needing the ride to cash price. You make way more doing that

Trip radar is the idea that at the airports killing the surge prices! Uber has a queue system but someones just comes inside the carpark gets the job!even if its not on trip radar i m about to arrive my destination uber keep sending trips! Thats annoying and distracting! Dont want it shut up! So rude man we are driving its distracting when driving!

I AGREE!! It’s dangerous for drivers to have to review trips during transport at any speed. I believe the solution here is AUDIO ANNOUNCEMENT!! Seriously.. all they have to do is engineer the app to announce the details of the ride and allow the driver to accept or decline the ride verbally. PROBLEM SOLVED! I can’t believe they haven’t done this already 🤪

Trip radar is how Uber is gathering information. It serves no purpose to the driver or the passenger. Think about it, if the call is going to the nearest driver anyway then why would it need to send it to 50 different drivers in the immediate area. So it sends the call to 50 different drivers so that 49 drivers will be upset. Everyone should stop clicking on the trip radars! It is going to send it to the nearest driver anyway! The algorithms in the app and AI are gathering information via trip radar!

I’ve done over 8,000 deliveries for Uber Eats. I love the platform but I absolutely hate this Trip Radar nonsense. I deliver full time and the clunking, buzzing, ringing, chiming fuckin’ nonstop is both distracting and annoying to the point where I just log out. I just stop delivering until I calm down because it gets me so pissed off.
I sincerely hope they finally get rid of this annoying nonsense.
