Dude's a coach and he doesn't even know what a proper push-up is. You don't need to touch the floor with your chest.
When you reach the bottom, your arms should be at a 45-degree angle in relation to your body. The reason you don't touch the floor is because people use this to rest. It helps by taking the weight off their wrist and hands.
