I would rather take care of other ppl's kids, being the fun aunt and giving parents a break rather than have my own. It's really not worth it for women especially, unless you really want one.

Sweden only has 10 million people. The U.S. has 330 million people. It's easier to provide healthcare and childcare for such a small population, so pointing at Sweden and complaining that we don't have what they have is a waste of time.

My son was never happy in daycare. I put him in a in home daycare and he was much happier. Babies/toddlers don’t need college degree teachers and fancy activities. All they need is loving, homelike care. Making childcare into a business is the main problem.

It's always been tough.

You need to live near family, having the grandparents helps a lot.

Or one parent needs to take a career break. Until kindergarten or 1st grade starts. Otherwise you are just working to have your child in a daycare.

We only struggle like this because our culture isnt close knit , alot of cultures are way more communal and have big families and everyone helps each other.
Children are only a blessing in that scenario and the child is way better taken care of.

But in America we have been conditioned to be way more independent, and value personal property, privacy and our appearance to others.

We struggle in so many ways because of this especially at the start and end of life , both the elderly and babies need carerakers , so it makes no sense for families to split up , move away and barely talk to each other

This isnt just a child/elderly care issue , this causes depression and the feeling like we have nobody, we literally isolate ourselfs and abandon our family network to go struggle alone in almost every aspect of life lol

We need to stay close to our families , be more communal and life would be way easier.

Watch your own Children!!! And I don’t want to find miitary either!!!
Only want to fund education. Children do a gazillion times better at home with Mother until age 3. Don’t ask my tax dollars to fund daycare. Am I OK with a huge tax break for Child credit at an increased amount for age 3 and under? YES IT IS HARD WORK. But only TWO. Any more than that no increased tax credit just the normal! I should be a leader

The price is outrageous, but it is basic supply and demand economically. Is this a southern thing? In the south us poor folk are raised by our grandparents while mom and dad are working. And there tend to be the occasional babysitters in the picture too which is great side hustle for young people. How is it so expensive and the workers get paid so little? Where’s that money going?

My mom shut her daycare down 1981-2023. We was in it from the beginning. In the 80s there was little government involvement. Today the Federal government gets over 60% of the daycares income in taxes. Parents can't afford it. The government increased cost by background checks, education, limiting number of teachers per children. In the 80s we could have over 30 kids with one teacher, and today you need a teacher for every 6 kids, or 3 babies. Then the government tells daycares what food to feed the kids. We can't make them good food with spices like some good pasta with meat and cheese. They got to have frozen processed fish sticks, and baked tater tots. Can't fry food for them. My mom would keep peoples kids till 10pm sometimes, because they worked double shifts. Find another daycare that will keep kids after 6pm.

People, quit having kids that you cannot pay for. It is not the state's or employer's responsibility to pay to raise your kids. That is your job. If you cannot afford the total cost of a child, DO NOT HAVE THEM.

One word that a lot of families need to learn is sacrifice. The mom really needs to get a job to afford daycare or not pay for daycare at all. How quickly would they realize they have money if the mom made a paycheck?

Daycare only makes sense if your job pays 3X the cost of tuition and pays the bills, while adding to your savings. Otherwise, the parent whose job can't cover more than groceries stays home, raises the kids and that daycare tuition money should go to the bills. SAHP can apply for WIC and foodstamps. The SAHP can take the kids to shop the sales and go to the public charity food pantries.

So...why are they having kids, then? O.o

Even worse, most of these foolish people have MULTIPLE kids. Why? Like how do you not do the research and learn all this info before choosing to have all these kids? How do you just blindly bumble into such a life-changing, important decision like having a child? It's fantastically irresponsible and selfish. I will never understand people like this.
