I grew up in this area, not in Conroe, but close enough to have been here a lot growing up. I remember when Conroe was a tiny little town. I moved away in the mid 90s to serve in the military, and then I worked for a little over a dozen years in law enforcement in Austin. I moved back about ten years ago with my new family to work for a new home builder. My wife and kids only knew Central Texas up till then, but we really like it here, my family even more than me, and they are people of color. It's also nice not seeing as many Beto and Biden signs in people's yards like we had in Austin. I would not move back to Austin for less than seven figures. I will eventually move away, but that's when I retire and can buy some cabin in the mountains somewhere.

Conroe has alot of racist tenacious. The Aryan brotherhood is all over and drugs. If your a person of color, just keep going south a couple more miles to Houston!

As a teacher of color, Conroe doesn't seem to want too many of us teaching in its schools regardless of how effective we are, unless the school is one of its rough ones. Once the quota is met, they're done. Can't wait to leave. Not welcoming at all. What's ironic is several schools are named for people of color. I'm going to leave that right there. You read between the lines.
