These things are really cool. I use mine a lot and it will cut as true as you want to make it cut just like any lathe. When testing it out and really pushing it I found I could take a millimeter of a two inch shaft hot roll steel. So I worked it hard for a while as one does and one day walked through gears in the gear box. Took it apart and found plastic gears. No problem, iron gears are available so I replaced them. Next, the motor quit. Took it apart and found that one of the plastic keepers that hold the brushes in place had cracked so with no pressure on the brush the motor wouldn't fire. Got a DC motor out of an exercise machine and cobbeled it into place. Next the circut board heated and unsoldered at one of the points. Soldered that back together and it's still going for now.
So yeah, it's really cool and doesn't take up too much room. I live in a farming community and there are a dozen old lathes on farms that people have offered to me but they simply take up too much room. These little Siegs are nice but if one is agressive with it it could require some modifications *as I'm sure you are more than capable of after watching your work>). I'm sure you'll have loads of fun with it. I'd highly recommend them. I also have the mill. the mill has a much better motor but the same gearbox with plastic gears so I replaced them also.
It's very exciting to have the mill and lathe avalible for repairs and mods. I hit a problem that looks like a real hassle and then I think "Oh wait! ... I have a lathe."

Tell it like it is Brodie. I have been thinking about getting one of these for a fair while so I'm keen to see your next video.
