Awikonko does not understand history.
Yorubaland is different from Ootu Ife, Ijebuland, Ijesha land etc.
Yorubaland is split into 4 region (Ekun Otun, Ekun Osi, Epo, Ibolo).
Laji did not call himself Aare Opitan of Yoruba. Infact, he corrects people who calls him that.

Awikonko is just arguing ignorantly

Abass was just being a chicken (coward), for not saying the truth, thank goodness that he agreed that Ife is the origin of Yoruba, what does that mean to him?
This is how we avoided saying the truth about our bad governance which made our public servants that we voted for to turn themselves into our gods.
it’s so disappointing that with the education and exposures of the new Alafin that he chose to pick up the fight of supremacy that added no values to our past Ooni and Alafin, can Alafin put up such attitudes in Canada? Would he not be professional? for crying out loud, Yoruba indigenes need a lot of support from our kings than this unnecessary supremacy rows, Fulani are committing serious atrocities in Yoruba lands, we need our kings traditional support and not picking fights. I commend Ooni for being a great king of peace, Christianity is about peace which is reflecting on Ooni, Almighty Jehovah will continue to endow Ooni with divine knowledge, wisdom, understanding & long life in the name of Jesus . Amen.
Thank you bro for bringing this to our attention.

Each Yoruba kingdom operates with traditional sovereignty meaning, every monarch (Oba) holds full authority within their own domain. There is no single central ruler over all Yoruba lands.

Historically:

The Alaafin of Oyo was regarded as the Commander-in-Chief of the Yoruba imperial forces during the height of the Oyo Empire. His power was largely political and military.

The Ooni of Ife, by contrast, holds the spiritual and ancestral mantle as the custodian of Yoruba origins and traditions. He is revered as the King of Shrines and Chief Priest of Yoruba deities—hence the title Oonirinsa (“Ooni of the 401 deities”).

In essence:

Alaafin = Political & military authority (especially during the empire’s era)

Ooni = Spiritual head & ancestral custodian of the Yoruba race

Both thrones are powerful but in different dimensions.

However, it’s important to remember:
The Ooni’s throne is the throne of Oduduwa, the revered father of Okanbi, whose seven sons became kings across Yorubaland. Among them was Oranmiyan, the last-born, who later founded the Oyo Empire.

The throne of a grandson cannot outweigh the throne of his grandfather.

Let’s honour our history with facts not with tribal sentiment.

Make una con carry the Yoruba dey go! Abi.

Whether na Yoruba or yariba or Oodua, all children of the source that is not a stray knows his way home.

Ife is the source.

No matter how Italy, France, Germany or Britain becomes, they still remember that the Roman Empire and Emperors gave birth to them. They cannot compare their greatness to Imperial Rome.

What Oyo did back then, and is attempting to do again always leads down one road- downfall.
