Struggling Worker Refuses To Leave Her 'FUN' Low-Wage Job

Why hasn’t Disney fired her? I can’t go and badmouth my company in public and expect to keep my job.

First of all the guy on the video is a dick second after being with a company and being a LOYAL employee for 30 years should the company show appreciation for her LOYALTY by paying her or offering her the training for a higher paying position

I don’t mean to be contrarian but…I think people should be able to live on minimum wage jobs. You shouldn’t need 100k dollars a year, 50k dollars in debt, just to survive.

If it's a job that needs doing, it's worth paying a living wage. Should the lady consider new employment? Probably. Should the problem be hers? Absolutely not. Corporations need to stop abusing their employees and pay a living wage to everybody. That's not to say everybody should make the same amount - more in-demand skills are definitely worth more - but any full time job at minimum wage ought to be enough to live comfortably. If you work, you shouldn't be poor. Poverty should be strictly reserved for those who refuse to work at all.

As an employer, if you can't pay a living wage to get something done, then you dont deserve to stay in business, full stop.

She seems happy, or atleast happy enough to pretend to be. I’d rather live her life than the life of an office drone with no free time.

I would certainly get all that Disney merch from her storage - and her floor - and SELL IT. 🤓 Who knows, she could have a fortune, but apparently doesn't want to put much effort into anything. But I guess it's easier to cry and complain than actually FIX the problem.

I worked at Disneyland as my last job before retirement and I met so many cast members with Bachelor degrees and still working there instead of looking for better paying job opportunities and they never seem to leave. So I don’t feel sorry for them, they’ve become lazy and too comfortable in doing jobs that don’t provide a decent living wage.

Well paying, not fun. Or low paying, more fun. Pick one.

Life is a series of choices. If you don’t like your life, make better decisions.

This is the kind of job you get when you're in High School to pay for your first car while you live at home. Or to make ends meet while you're in college. This is not supposed to be a career job. I imagine there are many opportunities for higher level jobs / promotions as Disney. For that matter, if she's been there for 20 years why is she not in a managerial or supervisory role at the least? There's more to this story, I think.

If it was a small company she worked for I'd understand the smarmy commentary,Disney has no problem giving her a few more bucks an hour for over 30 years of service though.

i dont know the cost of living where she is but every one should be paid a living wage if they are working full time. minimum wage does not equal living wage. no matter what the work you hire me to do, if im giving you my full time then i should be paid enough to live on. this video seems like propaganda from rich elites who dont want to pay their workers.

Her role once afforded her an apartment she could pay for on her own. Now that same job isn't enough for an apartment.

Realistically speaking, if your job doesn't change, your quality of life shouldn't change.

That said, it has nothing to do with corporate greed and everything to do with living in California.

i have no sympathy for anyone sticking with a low paying job, (thats your choice, unless you have a learning disability or something else beyond your own control) get out of high school, start at a low paying job, work your way up the chain so other high schoolers can get that job and do their own moving up, keep improvng yourself and you will make more money, ya you will have more responsibility but with that is more money

My job is stressful af, but it pays well. If she chooses an easy job, then she has to live with the low pay.
