After this, I question myself. Being a fan of this team for around 7-8 years, liking many players on this team, etc. Have I just picked the wrong franchise to cheer for? A year, every year full of nightmares of failures each an every year. Damn, I just feel bad for the hardcore Leaf fans that watch this team through there rebuild stage and being reward with this. get matthews fixed, keep him. pay knies what it takes to keep cause he's gonna get offered a lot. JT, like what, 3 million to stay ? keep willy. tanev good. mccabe needs work. rielly is a problem, sort of. benoit, keep him. OEL, good enough. carlo good enough. all the D needs tutoring except for tanev but they can get it done. stolarz and woll, good enough. laughton's a keeper. had faith in lorentz, not sure on that now. domi, keep him. holmberg, keep him. get rid of marner, he definately does not stay under no way shape or form. use his money to keep knies. matthews and marner need to be broken up, like far away from each other. they can text, thats it. knies gets the C next year.

sign JT to a lighter contract if he wants to be playing for Toronto... take a pay cut to help the team get some better talent in and make your money from sponsors etc.
Keep Domi he showed some of the most heart and drive just gotta keep the temper under control,
Moe I say this with the most respect for what you've done for this team but maybe it's time to set the skates up I saw you struggling at times to keep up with others during the playoffs even though you did become the scoring leader for defensemen in the playoffs for the Leafs... Kind of like a Gio type of situation... your heart and head is in it but this is a young mans league...please don't take offence.
Let Marner spread his wings and move on.
Lorentz I love you buddy but if the leafs can include you for a blockbuster trade I think it might be time, same with Jarnkrok. You both are talented no question.
Patches, Carlos, Laughty and Holmberg did what was expect and then some especially Patches (no offence to the others).
Stollie and Woll you guys were both studs You did what you could but it's difficult when you playing behind a team which at times struggles to set the pace. Stollie it was a damn shame what happened to you, I'll leave it at that, but no blame on you period.
Willy, Please you got the gift for scoring and the drive when you have the puck but PLEASE you gotta play better without the puck and especially when the team is on defense, you sitting on the opposite blue line waiting to get sprung has backfired so much because it's like your line is on a PK while you're waiting. Please be active more when you don't have the puck to try and help get the puck back. don't just stand around watching...
Mcmann, you did great this season but gotta work on the playoffs but I can't complain about your work ethic. Even though you didn't show up much on the goal scoring sheet your did work hard.
Revo, Sadly I think the age of the enforcer is in its last days sad to say but it might be like a Moe situation you got the drive but your roll that you have been in your entire career with great success is dying off in the needed area. Your off ice camaraderie is stellar from everything I've heard and seen. Maybe a roll behind the bench or how Spezza was after he retired with the GM would be a roll you could take on?
Nicky, I see greatness with you just may take a little longer to fully develop if you stay with this team which might be hard to hear (would love for you to stay though but get it if you don't want to and want a trade)
Knies- A stud, you park in front of that net just like the team has been needing for years and just pester that goalie, you also are great with the break aways and rushes. no issue with you, I see a young Borje Salming with your build, toughness, drive and talent... Keep it up and your name will hang in the rafters.
Tany, You beautiful biscuit eater, I wish I could clone 5 more of you, you got the spirit, you should have an A on your jersey (no offense to the other defensemen)
Benny, Mcabe, OEL Awesome my dudes keep putting in the work. there may have been hiccups but you all are solid players on the defense

Why can't AM possess a tiny bit of captainship? He has no answers, there are 4th liners that give a better post game reaction.
He has 31 other captains to take a look at around the league...Ovechkin, Crosby, McDavid...true captains of the ship, hell, theres even D-men on teams that have more fire than AM. If he keeps this up, he will never be in the HOF.
Players should never be considered "elite" when they act like AM.

I feel like coming off a loss game 6 is an opportunity to learn and ensure the recipe doesn’t work again. I think a dynamic shift losing a goalie is a major upset.

I think they need a player who’s a killer along with the strategic ones as forwards plus their top pick goalie. Stolarz is an elite goalie and they needed that along with a bold forward in each play to grab the win. There’s some things that just didn’t work out here.

A 1st line of "superstars" that can't do anything in the playoffs? I wouldn't give these guys another dime. They break records in regular season but none of that matters in the playoffs. The cup is the end goal and if you can't deliver on that what are they paying you for. Props to the d they took their lumps to get the puck out just for the forwards to give it away and do it all over again. I wouldn't be surprised if the arena was empty next season.

When are you guys going to realize Matthews is your problem? Dude is soft as all hell, deflects blame all the time, and doesn’t perform when needed. Constantly is getting passed the puck instead of his teammates taking shots anytime he’s on the ice and when he was gone they were better off. Then you named him Captain and all he does is cry. I would’ve picked Willy personally. Mitch being gone will maybe finally wake you up. 50$ he goes to Ottawa and Tavares ends up in Montreal since you guys want them out of the east so bad to Chicago and San Jose. Why would they go to a future cup contender when any team is dying to have what they bring? Even if just for a 2-3 year contracts especially Tavares. They’ll have cups next year. You’re only freeing up 20 million and the cap going to 95 m isn’t really gunna make your team better if you’re not competitive especially losing 2 elite playmakers. I’ve seen this look from Marner many many times over the years - he looks like he’s literally going to cry. He’s not built for pressure situations, not built for the playoffs. But isn’t it obvious by now? It’s been nine years of this but it was obvious to me even four years ago (after blown lead against the Habs).

Barely heard his name in the game.. Still plays like a small , scared kid... Great on PP or when there is no pressure. That is not playoff hockey however.

I have a question....do tough, ,physical bigger guys and harder hits, wear down a team? I mean Florida is big and physical and I'm wondering if the Maple Leafs were just beat up and out of energy instead of them "not having heart". Maybe they were just tired. Florida is a GREAT physical team so taking them to Game 7 is not easy. Just curious if anyone thinks that plays a role. I know the history of the Maple Leafs has not been kind but sometimes you simply have a streak of bad luck.
