What a spicy pull! Fantastic.
ОтветитьThat's a 270 dollar chalice of the void.!
ОтветитьSweet one, thanks!
ОтветитьI love how absolutely terrible Graham is at German <3
ОтветитьOk so like not memeing chalice is pretty decent in limited. Play it on one or two and it can deal with a lot of pump spells and chump creatures.
ОтветитьShoutout to Matts absolutely FANTASTIC editing for this episode. The joke about google translate practically had me in tears XD
ОтветитьI'd like to make a motion that anytime you open a Deutsch pack, you rename the segment "Crackin' Der Packen".
ОтветитьWHAT A CLUTCH PACK
ОтветитьNice pull!!
ОтветитьI almost made a joke about getting a German masterpiece, but instead pulls an English masterpiece.
Ответитьas far as i understand an umlaut makes you say the letter as its name. this pack should sound like ayther.
ОтветитьI opened a chalice of the void masterpiece at my prerelease. I did not realize it's 350 now. Last time I looked it was 150
Ответитьcard prices
card prices
chalice of the void(masterpiece): $350
total : $350.76
XD
"Luv 2 have sumpf" really caught me off guard
ОтветитьI vaguely remember needing to declare the parcel I sent five-ish years ago as a gift, which I think was marked on the outer packaging itself… eh, whatever. The hat featured in an ep of Feed Dump and the team pulled a Xenagos, the Reveler (on-mic/off-camera), so it’s all deece. 👍🏻
ОтветитьBruh that Invention, tho
ОтветитьHow do you say: "Holy sh** it's a mother***** Chalice of the Void!!!" in German?
ОтветитьYou need an episode with someone who speaks German (natively ideally) to get a rough idea of how some of the card names are expected to sound ;)
Not because you trying to pronounce them is not great, you're actually not that far off sometimes, just as a comparison or also to give some tips how certain things are pronounced, umlauts for example.
German card names really are a mouthful to the point that they regularly have to use smaller text sizes.
First I thought about making a comment about how to pronounce the German ä in a way that might make it to Graham.
Then I took a quick look over the top of the comment section.
This led me to believe that as a Dutch person I should not try to explain how to pronounce words in German to a native English speaker via text.
Encompassed in the above is the fact that my competency in German is lacking due to the lack of effort I put into my education on the language, so I'm not trying to say that being Dutch is such a demerit that one should not try to if they are actually capable of holding a conversation in the German language. (Note about this: "Steenkolenduits" does not count towards being 'capable of holding a conversation in the German language'.)
Love these but if if there's a lot of quiet voice and tiny subtitles it's makes them a little harder to watch
Ответитьthe umlaut letters are supposed to be pronounced very flat, so an umlaut a would be something like eh instead of ey
ОтветитьYeah that does seem like a pretty reasonable pack. Gotta love the final card bringing everything else to a grinding halt so it can be appreciated more fully!
ОтветитьInteresting that "Revolt" became "Rebellion" but "Revolution" remained as-is.
ОтветитьFor the curious, the actual German text for Chalice of the Void (sourced from Scryfall):
Kelch der Leere
Artefakt
Der Kelch der Leere kommt mit X Ladungsmarken ins Spiel.
Immer wenn ein Spieler einen Zauberspruch wirkt, dessen umgewandelte Manakosten gleich der Anzahl an Ladungsmarken auf dem Kelch der Leere sind, neutralisiere diesen Zauberspruch.
So Google Translate actually got pretty dang close.
Me: I'd love to send some spanish packs to graham for this
Masterpiece pops up
Me: On the other hand... i wanna get the serotonin of that
bring wheeler as a guest for the next german pack opening pls :D
ОтветитьThat's a lovely cEDH (and other formats) Stax powerhouse! Congratulations, and congratulations to Ruby for sending in one of the most exciting packs we've ever seen on this series.
ОтветитьAs a Canadian, you should be able to pronounce Ä, eh?
ОтветитьI am gonna be that guy and "uhm actually" you here Graham, you have actually opened a masterpiece once! I believe it was at MF Vegas 2019; Reason I know is because I am an avid watcher of your vlogs, they're among my favorite to have as chill stuff in the background.
This is less about doing an "uhm actually" and much more about the vlogs existing. Go watch them people, they're amazing and more Graham in your life can hardly be bad for you!
When reading German words: when two vowels go walking, the second one does the talking. This trick helped me remember that if a German word has two vowels next to each other, you pronounce the second vowels sound and the first is silent. It's been almost a decade since I learned German for school, please correct if needed
ОтветитьHoly moly. I hoped this would happen at one time, but I didn't believe it would. Awesome. Congratz!
ОтветитьÄther is pronounced very similarly to how most Europeans would pronounce Aether, as in, with the emphasis on the A. Your pronunciation is honestly not that bad generally though! There’s a few rules to German pronunciation but you muddle through it impressively well :D
Sincerely, a non-native speaker who’s been told their German accent makes them sound very posh.
Edit: Umlauts add an E to the vowel. O becomes Oe - kind like “ooo”. A becomes Ae, a hard “A”. E becomes Ee, U Ue, I Ie. You get used to it.
The only other tips I’d give - German V is English F, and German W is English V.
This episode was a Master Piece. Thanks Graham!
ОтветитьThat's such a rad pull... you could hear it in Grahams voice
ОтветитьI don't think that Vereisen has network coverage in Germany. Ok, I'll see myself out.
ОтветитьWhen one card is worth 460 times as much as the rest of the pack...
ОтветитьEngagement for the engagement god!
ОтветитьSomeone sent in that pack. Of all of the likely many packs that they could have sent, it was that one. There’s probably some regret happening there.
ОтветитьThe funny thing is, when I started watching this episode and saw that it was German Aether Revolt, I thought "What if they get a masterpiece?" And then you did. I screamed out loud and my roommates think I'm crazy. Nice pull! Couldn't have gone to a nicer guy. Except maybe me. ;) Keep on rockin in the free world Graham!
ОтветитьGrats on that surprise English masterpiece 😮
ОтветитьWow what a W, thats crazy
ОтветитьReading the German explains the German
ОтветитьI didn’t even know Germans played magic. I always thought they played Yu-Gi-Oh and Charades.
ОтветитьPackung öffnen, schnell, schnell!
Ответитьget the SLEEEVE
Ответитьpretty sure a regular chalice of the void would just about tie for the most expensive card they cracked on Crack-A-Pack until now. Congratz on the masterpiece one, think my first dive into buying mtg was a kaladesh gift / fat pack that had the aether vial masterpiece.
ОтветитьLiteral translation; the admiral aeronaut flies but gives vehicles flyingness.
