Hey! I love your work! For the alun stone, you can try the combo "alun + polmarosa essential oil" (if it is an essantial oil you can use and don't mind the smell of) it works whatever the season!
You wet the stone then add just one drop of the EO and you apply it on your armpit
About the lube: bbc3 made a video about zero waste sex and they showed how to make your own lube. I haven't tried it yet, but maybe you would like to.
Ответитьred room twin peaks looking tampons 😍
ОтветитьMy skin didn't like razors :( I bought a nice ladies electric shaver which is rechargable.
ОтветитьI have used the alun stone for many years now and usually it only worked in winter time. BUT some years ago I decided to stick with it also during summer and pick a period of time when I could try it out without bothering people around too much ;) And eventually it started to work! So now I use it all year around. Though, it might be good to point out that I live in the north of Sweden so the weather is not often super hot here.
ОтветитьI'm still using disposable razors that I bought four years ago! I don't use razors often but when I do I sharpen them in between using denim (or any heavy cloth) so they last a lot longer. I can't wait for them to finally run out though, would love to try out the full stainless steel ones!
ОтветитьI don’t know why anyone in sustainable community hasn’t talked about “tragacanth” yet, but i just want to mention that it’s the best zero waste all natural hair conditioner ever. It’s a natural water-soluble gum, you put it in water and it turned into gel which you can keep in refrigerator, i use the gel with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar as hair conditioner and wash it with lukewarm water afterwards and Voila. It’s quiet an ancient recipe in my country, you can also add coconut oil (or any kind of oil you want) to the gel and make a hair gel out of it (but never use it alone as a hair gel because it would flake badly).
ОтветитьI’ve used an alum stone for years. It may take a little while for your body to adjust, also some brands seem to work better than others. Mine worked really well in summer and in the gym, and I live in Barbados where it’s extremely humid and hot. After living abroad for awhile where there was virtually no humidity, when I came back to Barbados on holiday it didn’t work at first. But then my body adjusted and it was fine.
BTW is your razor by Edwin Jagger? If it is, I think made from chrome as opposed to stainless steel.
You can also use washable fabric mestrual pads instead of a menstrual cup.. But - there is also fabric washable tampons. I have really heavy bleeding on day one and being caught in meetings all day not being able to go change at the bathroom frequently - or if Im wearing somrthing light on a summer day I want extra protection so then I combine the washable tampon and pad. Usually or on the less heavy bleeding days I only use the pads. Have been for 10 years. So worth the extra washing. Love how they feel on my body. Hate the disposable ones - I used to always have an unpleasant smell during periods and got some sort of bacterial inbalance often. But with the fabric ones - no odors no unpleasantness, superfresh etc.
ОтветитьI have the copper iud and I use a cup no problem. I didn’t the first month because I was in so much pain from the iud but the second month I went back to my cup and I also have long acrylic nails so I was scared lol. But yeah just break the seal before taking it out and it should be okay. It’s so nice to not have to buy period products every month now but I fully support the use of tampons if others feel like that works best. 🥰
ОтветитьI love how transparant and real you are, about using tampons sometimes bc it works better for you.
As always: we need everyone doing sustainability imperfectly,
Not a small group doing it perfectly.
I’ve seen another youruber talj about those makeup products and theyre basically greenwashing (the tube outside is bamboo but inside is still a plastic wand and tube..) so thats kinda sad.
ОтветитьThis is such a lovely video! As well as the actual items, it’s your considered approach that sets a great example. Thank you so much for this.
Ответитьwhat do you use/recommend as deodorant in summer? In winter I use my selfmade one, but in summer it is too liquid so the components seperate.. what don't you like about the alumstone in summer? :)
ОтветитьI know this is kinda late but as a chemist I want to stress out that alum is an aluminium salt and therefore considered to be harmful just like any other aluminum ions (most deodorants nowadays have aluminium banned from their ingredient lists). There is still debate going on but the increasing exposures of the modern human from things like tin foil, cans and yes deodorants may be causing accumulation of aluminium which may be linked to alzheimer's disease. I don't no the regulations in each contry but I always say better safe than sorry. Especially the argument "the dosage makes the poison" does not really apply anymore since we hardly can control the exposures to metals like aluminium in our modern society. So please be aware of this. I am all in for zero waste but health comes first.
ОтветитьUBERLUBE is a great sustainable lube!!! Comes in a glass container and is super slippery!
Ответитьanother sustainable eyeliner is gel eyeliner in a pot! lasts forever, i use the nars one secondhand
ОтветитьLove my alum stone, and I live in humid, hot Georgia, in the U.S.
ОтветитьYou are so sincere and sweet that I am drawned to you videos and learned very useful advice. Thank you
ОтветитьDoes anyone have any suggestions on low waste makeup remover instead of Coconut Oil?? I'm have combo and acne prone skin so I'm not sure if my skin would break out.
ОтветитьHAHAHA my cup ripped my IUD out..I cant use the cup anymore sadly. I miss it
ОтветитьWhere the girls like you @ tho
ОтветитьBy the way anyone that is scared by the rezor, try the leaf shave company. They are a bit costly (80€, but you can ask them for a product which has a beauty defect but still works, for around 50€). Its basically like a cartridge razor with a moving head, but you only exchange the blades.
It has worked greatly for myself and it only nicked me when i had too sharp of a setting (determined by where you place the blade).
Btw thank you for so openly talking about lube and periods, i hate the stigma of not being able to talk about such things.
Apparently with the deodorant stone thing lol, you should use it when your pores are open under your arm, is this true.. Has anyone else used it? ❤️
ОтветитьHi, just wanted to add a little about the alum stone. It's my first time hearing of it being used as a deodorant. In my culture, it is mostly used as an aftershave and to treat cuts, and sunburns.
ОтветитьMultyGyn has prebiotic lubes in metal tubes, not sure if they’re available outside of Germany though.
ОтветитьI wish these products were more affordable even finding some of these products its crazy high. Being a lower income yet eco minded person its frustrating.
ОтветитьOh what happens with the combination of the cup and the IUD? I have friends that used both 🤔🤔
ОтветитьAny experience or recommendations for soap saver bags? I don't like putting my soap bar in a dish in the shower because I feel like it's always wet on the bottom side of the bar and last less long. I like the idea of a soap saver to dry the bar and to use as a scrub too but I don't know if it's supposed to be used that way (like a loofah). Thank you:)
Ответитьorganic sunflower oil or spit vegan obvs
ОтветитьMake sure to try out flaxseed-leave in-conditioner it works really well on me
ОтветитьFor me the most important thing is that nothings tested on animals if i can avoid it. For period stuff i have a mixture of cup, cloth tampons and cloth pads 😊 My first 2 days are hell and shoving stuff inside my vag is just not an option.
Ответить"Mühle Rasierer" from Germany have the prettiest Safety Razors ever. I had mine since 3 years too and it is still like brand new 😍
ОтветитьSeriously thank you for talking about waste during our periods. Every video I watch they talk about the cup and I’m sorry but just NO. I shouldn’t have to feel guilty about wanting to feel comfortable during my own period. Thank you!!
ОтветитьWhat brand is the tooth tabs you use with the fluoride?
ОтветитьReally appreciate you talking about menstrual products. I can't use menstrual cups. Because I seem to be uber long and super narrow. I've tried the longest cup available on the market (can't remember the name of it but it was something like 81 don't know if mm or inches or whatever whereas most cups are no more than 65-70 whatever long) and even that was too short for me. The cup just disappeared and no amount of straining to try and find it worked. And then I am also very narrow so I can't put in more than one finger. So one finger + the cup has disappeared makes it nigh impossible to remove it. I don't know if I'm just the rarest anomaly in the world because I haven't heard of anyone being as long as me haha.
ОтветитьWhat a relief to find out that someone else with curly hair finds it more difficult to discover sustainable products for curly hair. I've watched so many videos where girls with smooth straight hair say things like, I just use solid shampoo and that is it, I don't need conditioner. Well I need conditioner people with straight hair don't tend to have as dry hair as us curlies do. And then they don't need holding products either.
ОтветитьI use sodium bicarbonate (don't know if i wrote it right), no smell and no wetness for the whole day. Except for sport times, i have to put it 2 times during the day, it works wonderfully.
ОтветитьTHANK YOU FOR TALKING ABOUT LUBE
ОтветитьI use Alum stones for blood clotting, you know, from small cuts and things like that... you just clean them with a bit of water and start rubbing them against the wound... they don’t work on deeper ones, they need proper medication...
ОтветитьPeople with IUD may use cups, just saying. Not in every case but for a not very heavy period a short version of a cup should be fine (it is in my case) :)
ОтветитьAnyone who has a shorter length vag the diva cup and a lot of other cups will not work for you! If you know a bit about your shape the saalt cup is the only one I have found for myself with a low cervix and a short canal. Since cups are expensive I wanted to leave this comment here to help somone else since I spent a lot of money trying different ones and want to save Someone elses wallet!
ОтветитьI HAVE to tell you, I LOVE your blazer/jacket! I have never seen one like it and I love it so much! Where did you get it? Do you know the brand?
ОтветитьHey :) I actually found a zero waste lube! Its called FAIR SQUARED Lube & Massage Gel Green Tea and comes in a glas jar which can be returned in some zero waste shops 😊 I haven’t tried it yet but I think they are a good brand 💕
ОтветитьOhne is a german brand? Because in german ist means „without“
ОтветитьDoes the Ohne discount code still apply?
ОтветитьThank you, Immy. I really love your sweater?coat? - not sure what it's called!
ОтветитьI personally am on Amethyst (a hormonal, all active tablets, birth control pill option). I need hormonal birth control for a few reasons. 1. I have problems with lactating (no kids, it was/is medication induced). 2. I have epilepsy that is made worse when I am not on a consistent level of hormonal birth control. 3. My health insurance won't cover IUDs (why I don't know as it would actually be cheaper for them in the long term).
As for any breakthrough bleeding I use a washcloth (folded in half) as a pad and will hand wash them upon changing the washcloth out. Although, as I also have herpes simplix virus (HSV) I find that using a washcloth as an underwear liner has dramatically reduced my outbreaks making for a more comfortable life as an outbreak is quite itchy and burns quite alot.
