I chose to raise my children without religion and to respect their choices and beliefs with regard to the matter. What this family is doing would be the equivalent of raising my children as hard atheists; where a lack of belief IS the belief, the right and only belief. Shoving the idea of "there is no God" into their upbringing, wouldn't help them find their own stance and religious beliefs. Taking away how we identify ourselves from our children, with things like gender, can be just as harmful, if not more, than forcing their identity against their will.
