Looking back 500 years, people in that time used horses and carriages to move about. Lamps and fires for a light source and almost no automation. Life then would have been hard as building grand structures and traveling large distances would have been a huge hassle. If there were any "flying" it would have been witchcraft and the person would have been burnt.
