THE BOYS: Where it went Downhill - Nerd Legion Ep. 33

Not that it says much at this point, but ep 5 was the best one this season for me. Actually moving the main story along, more relevant Butcher, and character development thats not just random, pointless, force, side character stories.

It is falling off hard this season, the Frenchy stuff was just boring and irrelevant and what, his third origin story? All the B plots seem quite boring and irrelavant.

They're just stretching everything out so they can get another season in. The "Homelander is about to snap!" thing has been teased for the entire show now, it just isn't that intresting anymore

I couldn't get trough season 3. Only season 1 was good in my opinion.

Unlike great TV, The Boys will become utterly unwatchable as time goes on because so much hinges on what hashtags trended on Twitter while they wrote the script.

The side plots that they pull out of their asses are unbelievable. Already were in Season 3. And then a shadow of the past rears its head ... but they can't run from their past ... however, the past catches up to them ... They are pointless, self contained and bloat characters. Not to mention they don't even make sense. People and things just so happen to pop up exactly where they need to be by pure chance.

Like, Kimiko is basically just a human+ but she has this entire arc about being a mONsTer because of her powers. Just maybe stop spazzing out? Frenchie is an absolute mess of a character, has half a dozen background stories at this point and just gets kicked around. Starlight all of a sudden has a dark and malicious past that haunts her? And Deep fucks fish, haha never gets old. How many times do they want to tease him "accepting himself" just to ridicule his character for being a dumb scumbag?

The Boys is pretty good season 4 so far is alright but its never going to be something like The Wire or Sopranos its silly fun.

The only time the boys was good was in s1, everything after is goyslop and propaganda. Look up what/who changed after s1 😂

There’s a lot of things that I think are fun and done well only to be blown up by having to hear a character say “Pete Davidson energy”

Anything involving Seth Rogan turns into the exact same tired beats. I have no idea how he keeps getting hired in anything to do with showrunning.

All I got from this episode is that fatherhood has made Doa too soft

creative bankruptcy is being too generous, it's just the guy who made season 1 and 2 hating the people who liked his show, so he's ruining it on purpose

It feels like season 4 just deleted all of season 3. What is the point of watching a tv show if nothing matters?

The show is constantly jumping the shark.

Great concepts of a first season that put too much focus on nothing characters. So many moments that should be more than what they are. Way too much focus on dumb sex jokes.
Personally thought there was some return to form in Season 3 but the finale was just terrible. We really having the final fight in a generic office?

Surely in the 4th episode 1 important charachter will die in the old mcdonald farm.

I love how the counter argument to the quality dropoff is "the show was always political"...it wasn't, it tackled societal issues but those issues weren't political (like celebrity worship, social media addiction, toxic work environment, toxic relationships, etc)

Honestly I think it has just gradually been falling off since s2 and it is just so bad in places now that even your average viewer can notice it. I really just watch the show for a couple of certain actors/characters now

Season 1 was absolutely amazing.. Season 2 not so much and then for me it just declined in quality from a story telling perspective.. The actors are still generally fantastic.. I agree sometimes its just shocking to be shocking (the guy who went in someones ass, sneezed and exploded) for example

From a viewer that's outside of the US and just watching this show because it;s fun. I feel like the current season has gone waaaay down in quality. Not only because they are doing things just for the shock factor. Like before when you were worried about butcher and hughie because they were mortals? Now everybody has plot armor and we know every dangerous situation they get into are fake. Butcher just casually having conversations with homelander face to face, and hughie caught by Victoria Neuman in the van then butcher litreally puts a bullet in her head, but she doesn't retaliate and just walks away. The tension from previous seasons is all gone.
Also how much it sucks when 80% of the reason i'm watching this is for homelander to do homelander things and butcher speak with an accent, but they decide to make butcher "dying" and piss off to the side lines.

I think you're missing the point. They're just making fun of the conservative stuff, they've always done it. The universe within the show doesn't really matter it just exists to make fun of everyone. i think you're adding a deeper level which was never there. Think of it as it's all satire and meant to be funny.

What's up with all the butthurt crybabies coming out of nowhere and bitching about the show? The show was good and is still good. Right now there is nothing out that is even remotely close as good

I still think the kingpin scene where you dont see anything is way more intense then the gore in this show, i think the hyper violence lessens the impact

Thing is, they knew this season would be airing during the lead-up to the election,
So they’re being extra obvious

I can't help but wanting to believe that S4 will serve the bigger picture, although standing alone looks weak. Especially after that strong S3, with all the epic Stuff going on, it is hard to top that off. If they tie all lose ends together in E8 as a big lead up to S5, I'd be happy.

So yeah it definetly fell off, but maybe thats a necessary setback, what it needs to end on a strong note in the last season.

Personally I really like the new Noir. Just some guy who got the gig and doesnt understand his "character" is just to stfu and take orders 😂
