This is one the most common escapement mechanisms found due to it's simplicity. Named the recoil anchor escapement because the escapement wheel recoils on each beat due to the force applied to the wheel by the pendulum via the anchor.
The same assembly instructions work for the deadbeat escapement as well. This is similar to the recoil anchor escapement, however it does not recoil on each beat, making it a little more accurate and reliable.
