Apparently after doing a quick google search, it is possible to cross a chicken with a pheasant. Also, apparently using artifical insemination it was possible to cross a chicken and a Japanese quail. Crossing turkeys and chickens were trialled, but the success rate was low, most did not develop or were not viable, and of those that did develop many embryoes died. Mallards and ducks create hybrids in nature, various geese can create hybrids with other geese, as do different species of finches with other finches.

Isn’t it strange to think that most male ducks are rapists? I mean, talk about a mallardadaptive behavior, am I right?! Heyo!

The empty egg thing does happen.
I used to breed budgies... we had several females over the years that laid hollow eggs... and I had a rescue cockatiel about 10 years ago that I thought was a male who laid a hollow egg.

there was one time I was at a restaurant and I could see outside, it was windy and a whole bunch if crows like the whole flock was playing by jumping off a nearby building and catching the updrafts. 😂 they would jump, dive, and then fly up and they kept doing that. it was fun to see them playing

I used to think Canada geese only stayed in TN/MS area as they were passing thru while migrating, but I've been living near a pond for 8 years, and they are here year round. The numbers fluctuate, and I don't think it's the exact same birds every time, but still...

There is a male and female pair of ducks that always arrive at my house every summer since 2017 and leave together every fall. They lay in the grass in my back yard together and flop around in the pond and eat cat food. I have never seen them apart or with other birds. They have tags on their feet and I've only been able to get close enough to read them a few times, but they are in fact the same birds. During the winter I wonder if they are remembering the summertime up north 1 thousand miles away and all the delicious cat food they get there. 😂😂

It's interesting (and kind of sad) what we've done to dogs. A lot of peopld don't know that different dog breeds are still the ssme species.

But related to the topic, I would like to see some birds ring species. I haven't thought about it before.
