Wayne Shorter était un saxophoniste ténor et soprano, compositeur et chef d'orchestre de jazz américain. Il est considéré comme l'un des musiciens les plus influents et innovants de l'histoire du jazz.

Wayne Shorter was an American tenor and soprano saxophonist, composer and bandleader. He is considered one of the most influential and innovative musicians in the history of jazz.

Shorter began his professional career in the 1950s, playing with musicians such as Art Blakey and Horace Silver. In 1964, he joined Miles Davis' Second Great Quintet, where he became a key member of one of jazz's most important and revolutionary groups.

In 1970, Shorter co-founded the band Weather Report, a pioneering jazz fusion group that achieved great commercial and critical success. He has also recorded more than 20 albums as a conductor.

Shorter was known for his unique saxophone style, which was both lyrical and harmonically complex. He was also a prolific composer, writing pieces that were both original and accessible.

Marcus Miller and his band pay tribute to him by playing “Footprints” during the encore during his concert at the Grand Rex in Paris at the end of 2023.
