What a great story teller, and fiddler to top it off. I really appreciate that he doesn't play it in the conventional ways, but still gets a good sound. It inspires me to let go of my Classical grip, and embrace some different fiddling methods.

That's the great thing about playing music, it's an element you can carry with you your whole life.

I'm a classical violinist who also likes country fiddling. I have a minor question. For those fiddlers - and this includes traditioanal Indian violinists - who don't place the fiddle anywhere near the chin, shoulder or collar bone - why bother to keep the chinrest on? Just habit or tradition?
