ОтветитьHi guys, love the videos. While watching I noticed your engine panel. You have a Yanmar, judging from the age of the panel do you have a 2 or 3 Qm model ? Even if it is the early GM model you need to check the engine for an exterior oil feed line. The oil line is made out of steel. The line is there to send lubricant from the bock to the head assembly valve train. The problem with this type of set up is salt water over time will rust this oil line and cause the line to get a hole in it. If the oil feed line gets a hole in it you will lose all the engine oil and kill the engine. Make sure the line is nice and clean / painted. Let me know what you find ?
ОтветитьJust found you guys. Binge watching on Sat. Night. ❤️
ОтветитьI like the videos guys, BUT . . . You don't need music ALL the time. AND the volume when you're talking is ridiculous. Please lower it. Doin' the dream sail - - - keep it up - - - keep dreaming.
Ответитьif you catch a fish while trolling you have to stop and even backup if you have a lot of line out. If you don't want to stop then use very heavy line so you can bring him in quick before his mouth gives out.
ОтветитьI’m new to this, but shouldn’t they have gotten rid of the brother a while
ago? I would have
You guys are doing a great job!
ОтветитьGo out with some racing guys - they will show you how to put up and take down a spin . No sock required . It is easy once you know the tricks .
ОтветитьDo you have to go threw customs? I mean, Can't you just go, eat, stay the night on the boat and leave with out it?
ОтветитьGood Job on the Video,, Loved it. Would LOVE to know more about Costs and associated things with living and sailing in Mexico.... I want to retire next year at 62, A small sailboat in Mexico is one of the plans.. I have found some on the subject.. but most info is Dated or Tourist oriented. Keep the Faith, Travel on.
ОтветитьWhen we entered Mexico the exchange rate was18pesos to the dollar, and after 6 months it was 21 to the dollar!
ОтветитьThis is one of the best looking videos you guys have filmed - especially the first part. Good job!
ОтветитьWhat makes you think puting the camera closer to your mouth while you eat is what we want to see? You guys have wierd shit u like to share with the world
Ответить'A catchy one.' yuk-yuk-yuk....

I would like to hear more about the 5 years you prepped to make this trip. Why did you go to Washington to purchase the boat. Did you restore the boat yourselves? What were the restoration cost? What kind of things did you replace? What year is the Prism? What made you name it Prism? What were your jobs prior to shoving off for good? How long did you save money for this trip? These questions are related to doing this myself. I sailed in Hawaii back and forth between the islands for about 4 years while I was stationed there in the military. I would have loved to cruise years ago and still would love to do it. I have a $400K land yacht in the mid-west I would like to trade in. What is your recommendation on boats and length for cruising? I was thinking at least 40 ft, but your 33 ft looks nice and roomy. What do you think about Ketches for cruising? Lots of questions in case you need something to do...
ОтветитьCame for the Tacos....now a subscriber. If you get a chance, can you show more detail. I havnt raised mine as yet and dont want to do the same thing. Did it chafe at the top?
Ответитьthere is something wonderful (and pathetic) about someone getting joy out of telling a bad joke
Ответитьawesome videos
ОтветитьI hope by now you've invested in some real fishing gear!
The spin cast type reel you're using and the light pole you're using on the end of the video have no business outside the bay!
You need to invest in some bait cast / barrel type reels and heavier shorter poles.
I grew up fishing those waters and I can promise you you will continue to lose fish and waste gear. Even a 10 pound Albacore will ruin that hear really quick! Learn how to use a rubber band to set a snap rig on the troll. One or two poles should be set out on troll fishing top of the swells. As soon as one line snaps everyone on board who's also fishing should then be feeding line out behind the stern. The tuna are in huge schools and will fallow that first caught fish literally to the stern of the boat thinking it's boiling in the feed. To keep cost down fishing and spear fishing is the the way to go. You're going to wind up depending on it! So buy the best you can afford ... you need back up for your backup! You will find yourselves in places you can not get what you need or will it be affordable!
Also by now I surely hope you've ditched that dingy something more realistic and safe. Like an inflatable with a reliable outboard. A big part of cruising is exploring on that dingy. You don't want to find yourself stuck away from your home (sailboat) and you want to be able to get around fairly quickly for multiple purposes! Getting back to your boat if you see a storm rolling in, emergencies, issues with anchorage, and for survival!
That dingy in these videos will not cut it! There's going to be times at sea you want to tow that as well instead of loading it. There's times your motor may fail you cruising through reefs and that dingy needs to turn into a tug to guid your sailboat. Ditch that one for a heavy inflatable!
Keep the videos coming! There enjoyable!
Any plans on circumnavigation? what's your route like?
ОтветитьI love that taco stand... They make the best tacos!!
ОтветитьYou must drop the sails if you want to land the fish.
ОтветитьI really enjoy watching your videos, the underwater footage was really cool!
Have great adventures, thanks for sharing. : )
Awesome video...new subscriber. How far off are the videos from your current adventures?
ОтветитьGreat videos, thanks for sharing. I've never sailed but one day will. I enjoy how you speak of the sails and the workings of your vessel. Nice music selections as well.
ОтветитьWhen I saw Nov 19th, I momentarily freaked out as I thought today was only the 10th. Then I realized it's Dec now. Although I'm up on the ranch for now, I am still behaving like a sailor, forgetting what month it is. Cheers.
ОтветитьLove your videos! Just found your channel and watched them all! You guys rock
ОтветитьOld sailing saying… "hoist that spinnaker and let God take it down". ;)
ОтветитьLove the videos! You guys are great. I look forward to the next.
Ответитьlove your videos it's nice to see some bay area locals sailing off into the sunset
ОтветитьI the shot with the boat in the slip in Ensenada, your mast looks to have a forward tilt?
Ответитьwonderfull video's , i was wondering if your old boat sold in the month the agent said he would sell it?
Ответитьthanks for the response, definitely a plus for you
Ответитьgood stuff, keep'em coming!
Ответитьlooking forward to seeing your adventures in mexico. good photo, n music. shaving has shown u as a new smart person, not the usual lazy dirty sailors. great job
ОтветитьGreat Videos! Watched them all in a row. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to upcoming adventures! Watch out for hurricane SANDRA! It a late one but not less dangerous. Buy the way: you looked more sailorish with the beard ;) Ahoi from Germany and fair winds!
ОтветитьHello, I'm really enjoying your awesome videos.. I'm curious about what type of camera's you are using and what do you use to edit with? Also, I'd love to see a tour of your beautiful boat.
Thanks again
Guys, loving these videos. Nice footage, nice editing, nice writing. I think I even saw a magic arm in one shot for a second.
I think what was in the video was a plain old symmetrical spinnaker, rather than a gennaker. I am sure you have learned this by now (don't know the actual date of the footage), but to take down the spinnaker as you had it rigged, blow the tack, and take the kite down the forward hatch by the clew. Helps if a second person lowers the halyard at the same time. I fly one like that single handing, but taking it down alone can be trying in any wind at all. Oh yeah, sucks about your jib halyard.
Awesome video series. I think you are professionals. Thanks from Holland.
ОтветитьAwesome video, you just got one new subscriber !
ОтветитьLoving the videos!!! =) What are you using to edit?
ОтветитьOoOoh, taccccoooos! :)~
ОтветитьLove your videos. I especially like the wrapping on your wheel. I wonder where I could get one?
ОтветитьSpellbound here again. Man, I gotta tell you guys that your video production skills are excellent! I hate being on camera but eventually I'm gonna have to start doing so for our own videos. Loving these and looking forward to more.
ОтветитьNo roller furling! Awesome, me neither.
ОтветитьMexican customs does require patience! Keep the videos coming! As soon as you hook a fish you need to stop the boat. Looked like you were still doing 4 knots still!
Ответитьcongratulations first sailing out of US. the underwater shot looking at the rudder was awesome cause you could see the bubbles cycloning around in the wake, crystal clear underwater shot too, good job. oh, amd i love the new logo at the start , great logo for the boat.
ОтветитьHey guys I'm loving the Adventure!⛵️
ОтветитьAwesome guys, always remember to keep your line tight at all times when bringing them in. Maybe you might want to use your whisker pole when you have the gennacker out, it will stop the luffing and give you more control. Stay well!
