Funny how people like the ban because they don't want to hear MUSIC. Music is EVERYWHERE on a ship. Just stay home.
ОтветитьSafety reasons...Can't hear announcements? SO EVERYONE wearing headphones won't hear the announcements...😆 Only Carnival could be so st*p1d.
ОтветитьIts sad people take advantage so much they have to ban bluetooth speakers, but I totally get it. Saftey was the excuse, but inconsiderate assholes are the cause for the speaker ban. Same type of people who insist on having a speaker phone conversation in public, or they speak obnoxiously loud around strangers to broadcast at others. Brats who got old but never grew up.
ОтветитьThank you for this video, appreciate the update. Just got on a Radiance class RC ship, packed the ancient extension cord I've used for 9 years in my backpack, in case they were going to take it ( the cord has no surge protectors, just 3 plugs at the end of a two pronged extension cord). Much to my surprise, they didn't take the extension cord away. They did insist on removing and scanning the batteries for my cameras separately. They didn't take anything away. Will see what happens on the next RC cruise.
ОтветитьInteresting bans loud music bad but white noise good too bad about that
w/ chair ban is dicey an accessibility cabin is expensive But it is important to have adequate coverage for mobility challenges DANG
If passengers can't make a noise with their BT speakers, then neither can the cruise line. If I want "background" "music" in a public space I'll choose my own and use earbuds. Cruise lines, please give us peace and quiet.
Now, if it is an event with live music for a limited time, I'm ok with that.
Celebrity took my muliti plug away in 2024. That was OK, but what annoyed me the most is that they made no effort to contact me while I was on board. So was wondering where my suitcase was? I have done many, many cruises on Celebrity but this situation really "POed" me.
ОтветитьI think most points are fair exept for the starlink personal internet ban. That is just like banning bringing nonalcoholic bottles. just for their bottom line. the wheelchair I guess for safety reason. but that would also restrict those who have trouble walking without a stick.
ОтветитьDoes the wheelchair ban apply to compact mobility scooters as well? My wife has a scooter that folds up to the size of a suitcase, so we don’t take up a lot of space in the room and most especially do not leave it in the hallway.
ОтветитьI'm behind the band on Bluetooth speakers. Unfortunately most people are not respectful of others personal space and play whatever music they want. I go to cruises to relax and not have to worry about some idiot blasting his music. Hope all cruises lines follow this restriction.
ОтветитьLet's be real , the speaker bann was most likely because of a certain culture and certain music.. we all know the truth.. banning anything for wifi is common sense being that it's something they sell. They should really stop the drink packages and do background checks on all passengers and require them to pay for it. This would elimate alot of the fights and problems on board.
ОтветитьThe wheelchair rule makes a lot of sense. Why is it so controversial?
ОтветитьI think all the bans are appropriate. People expect too much and try to get away with so much.
ОтветитьI'm all for the ban on Bluetooth speakers and I hope all cruise lines implement it. They should also ban using speaker settings on cell phones in public spaces and balconies and mandate headphones when in those locations. You would think it would be common sense not to have a conversation on speaker in the near empty, very quiet and relaxing coffee shop on a port day. But no, this older senior couple had a full on FaceTime call with their son for the entire place to hear. So rude.
ОтветитьGreat to ban speakers. I don't come on a cruise to be annoyed by what someone else is listening to.
As for tech connections; I think it is pathetic what lengths people will go to, to be constantly on their phone or computer while supposedly being on vacation. My phone is with me as a camera and little more.
Cry me a river. You're a hedonistic consumer supporting an industry that is devastating to the environment and harmful to local cultures and economies. Are you stupid or do you just not give a damn?
ОтветитьThe only remaining handicapped accessible cabin available is concierge 🎉🎉🎉
ОтветитьYou couldn't pay me to go on a cruise. Some of these bans sound like they are money grabs. The ceuise ship's entitlement to your money when they deny boarding should not be guaranteed regardless of gobbledygook contract they force you to sign.
I realize that CBD may be illegal in other countries. Have they banned trash cans? It seems a harsh response to something that can be tossed out
I’m thrilled Bluetooth speakers have been banned. The walls in cabins are relatively thin and it’s bothersome to listen to other people’s music, podcasts, or other things. Part of my enjoyment on a cruise is sitting on my balcony watching the ocean go by and I don’t want to have to listen to other people‘s music or other programming, I want peace and quiet. It’s a simple thing for people to wear headphones and I can’t possibly see how their desire to have music playing out loud trumps the desire of others to have peace and quiet when the simple solution is to wear headphones. Wearing headphones is being a good neighbor and being respectful of others.
ОтветитьI can't help thinking that requiring the booking of accessible staterooms - At considerably higher cost and lower availability - For guests who have any need of a wheelchair absolutely stinks if the guest is otherwise able to manage perfectly fine in an ordinary stateroom. From the (UK) legal perspective it's also likely to constitute a breach of the Equality Act by applying limitations and higher charges on guests with specifically physical disabilities compared to those without. ♿💸🙅
I'm disabled myself, but my disabilities are nonphysical and I could safely reach a muster station at the opposite end of the ship to my stateroom if I needed to. Because of this I would pay no more than any non-disabled guest would. Why should any guest with physical disability be made to pay more for their cruse than those with nonphysical disabilities and those with no disability at all? 🤔
The UK Equality Act requires the provision of Reasonable Adjustments for disabilities, and allowing wheelchair users to occupy normal staterooms if they are able is one of them. Training more staff in accessible evacuations (Ideally; Making this a part of regular crew training) and assigning them to any staterooms occupied by wheelchair users would also constitute a Reasonable Adjustment, and I think that's something the cruise lines should be looking at - And ideally; Be obliged to further - Before discriminating on whether a passenger uses a wheelchair or not. 🧑⚖
P&O aren't forcing all wheelchair users into accessible cabins. You only need an accessible cabin if you are bringing a mobility scooter or a powered wheelchair (electric wheelchair). If you are bringing a regular wheelchair you are fan BUT you must have Stairlift assistance added onto the booking (limited spaces)
ОтветитьYou couldn’t pay me a million dollars to do business with any of these lines. Floating, glamorous, over priced toilet bowls, polluting the seas of the world…
They won’t allow something as a totally innocuous as a c.b.d. gummy on board but they’ll drown you in liquor and stuff you with food like a ship of gluttons being fattened. Sick…
The wheelchairs are out of control….they are left outside the cabins (many in a row)and obstruct general passenger movement.
ОтветитьI've a white noise track on my phone that I just play on my phone's speaker. Works just fine for me, no portable speaker needed.
ОтветитьI've banned cruise ships.
I have no money .😮
If some cruise lines are banning multiple socket electrical adapters what do people do with the adapters they need for the pre-cruise hotels? A CPAP doesn’t have a usb cord, it needs an electrical outlet and the appropriate adapter to be used world wide.😏
ОтветитьThe bluetooth speaker ban is definitely because of the obnoxious, inconsiderate people that want to play their music in public spaces with no concern for others. Unfortunately, the considerate people who just want to use their speakers in their cabin get caught up in the ban.
ОтветитьSome old people will complain about anything.
ОтветитьI have one of those multi-country adapters, the kind that look like a block and can produce the prongs for whichever country you happen to be in. This block has USB outlets on it, but it also has a place to plug in a regular electrical cord.
We sometimes use transatlantic cruises as the first or last step of a European vacation. We don't just pack for the cruise because there's a few weeks to a few months of other travel after the cruise.
Is the cruise line making allowances for their customers who aren't just cruising and then returning home? Why on earth would they believe it's okay to ban essential equipment that we will legitimately need for the part of our vacation that is not cruising?
Very interesting! Isn't banning wheelchairs and charging those who need it more money for an accessible cabin a contravention of the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act)? This is certainly the case in the UK anyway.
ОтветитьI've been on four Viking cruises and have never heard a bluetooth speaker being used.
ОтветитьGary, I'm sorry the speaker ban affects you. I get having one for personal use as you described. But far too many people abuse the privilege and are grossly inconsiderate of others around them. I guess the cruise line feel it's easier to ban them entirely than to continuously police cruisers who are disturb others. Sorry, but I have no problem with this particular ban.
ОтветитьFor banned items, always check your medication with your doctor and pharmacist, most know more about what is and isn't legal for you to have in areas you might be cruising to...and keep the bottles you're issued the medicine in and copies of the prescriptions...but also do your own checking of things, seems like it's every few months you hear about someone caught because of some meds that are either fully banned elsewhere, or ones that are over the counter in one place and prescription only elsewhere (or outright illegal)
ОтветитьHow long will it be before any cruise ship company sailing from the USA is hit with a class action for violation of ADA. Is is complete BS on the part of the cruise lines to charge more from someone who is disabled. Maybe I will just start it myself.
ОтветитьAnother reason we no longer cruise, but instead rent a cabin. Floating toilets that hire sexual predators.
ОтветитьThe wheelchair ban seems to go strongly the US Americans with disabilities act. They cannot charge more for rooms, they have to provide the rooms.
They should not be allowed in US territory with wheelchair rules like that
CBD is nothing! Meanwhile they ply you with alcohol that causes so many problems.....
ОтветитьAfter a travel experience over the holidays, the wheelchair restrictions are not only sensible but crucial to ship safety. In this experience (Jan 2, 2025), a 300lb+ woman in a wheelchair had to be pushed up a ramp by two small female crew. Not only were the crew getting tired after a short time during a long distance, every single able bodied person behind them was slowed to the progress of the wheelchair. Had there been an emergency, hundreds or even thousands of people could have been impacted.
ОтветитьThe wheel chair ban won't fly in us ports due to HIPAA laws
ОтветитьBoohoo. Poor you.
ОтветитьI never have wanted to go on a cruise so all of these issues are fine by me; especially drugs and wheelchair issues.
ОтветитьHeaven forbid you book your cruise in advance and you break or leg or have an injury you won’t be able to bring a wheelchair. That’s crazy.
ОтветитьHeard a mob once on a cruise blaring a portable speaker. Sounded like I was at a mosque. They were approached. Problem solved
Ответитьwith your followers that use "white noise" devices to help with sleep etc - get a doctor's certificate and have the item listed as a medical device or medical aid and see what the cruise line does then?
ОтветитьThis might differ from country to country - but usually businesses are prohibited from charging extra based on someone's disability - that would be considered discrimination. I could understand an older ship (built before lifts were compulsory) limiting guests in wheelchairs, but why would there be more cost to the company to provide a room to someone who is on crutches vs having a mental disability vs being in a wheelchair?
ОтветитьIm fine with a speaker ban but still selling them on board is wild 😂
ОтветитьThe real issue with accessible cabins and wheelchairs is not the cost, it is the very limited number of accessible cabins that has always been a real issue and will now be even more problematic as there will be far greater demand for this scarce resource.😩😩😩
ОтветитьCruise is not something I would ever consider doing, so meh
ОтветитьI was on my very first cruise in December on the Harmony of the Seas and had no idea they banned power strips! They confiscated mine before the suitcase even got on the ship, but they left a piece of paper inside the suitcase saying that after the cruise ship returned to home port to just go to the security desk at the front of the terminal and just ask for it back. Pretty easy, the security officer found me my power strip and got it back in a minute.
ОтветитьBan on speakers is bliss. Use headphones. I really don’t see this as a negative in any way.
Ответить
