I think it can be hard too for the employee if sometimes (most of the times) hardly anything is to do and sometimes way too much. Never or rarely something in between.

ОтветитьI actually have a check list i just made for this eairlyer today for my 8 guys and how they need to deligate their daily routine... IMO... I'm not a baby sitter. After 8 weeks of training. It's either going to work. Or it isn't. The choice is theirs.

ОтветитьI found in my experience that a mediocre employee can be improved by putting good rules and policies and fences around them. There’s a process to evaluate that. We have to keep them challenged mentally, and we have to show them that this job they're doing today is going to take them to their personal career goal. If you challenge most people in the right way, they want to prove that they can meet that challenge.
One of the policies we have in the company here is that when you run out of things to do, you need to check your task list. Also many business owners are overly verbal too! We can't hold employees accountable for a policy that doesn't physically exist. We can't hold them accountable to an SOP that doesn't physically exist. Get things written down to avoid hearing “you never told me that”. You need to refer them to the SOP. If you don't have it in SOP form, ask the employee to create it.
I use WorkTime for my team and it was a great compromise. It monitors employees for productivity but it doesn’t record any of their private information or make screenshots.
