So messed up. Picking on elderly and veterans. These companies should be ashamed of themselves. You can make money and still be honest.
ОтветитьWow, the wording is cleverly constructed to make it sound like the US government is giving out these bags of coins by saying "US Gov't issued" all over the place. I had to look back to see if I had misread the letter or "newspaper article".
ОтветитьThank you! Great information!
ОтветитьThanks for trying to save collectors, money .
ОтветитьGood Morning Daniel!!🍵 It is such a rip!!🤬 Such a crappy thing, preying on the elderly, particularly us Veterans!!🤬🤬🤬
ОтветитьP.S. I have attempted to reason with a friend about this! It is very difficult to crack through mindsets, as you know, Daniel!!
ОтветитьI have people contacting every couple months from another state with one of these ads and I have to shoot them down, hoping they have not already fell for these overpriced FOMO coins!
ОтветитьBeautiful job Daniel. Beautiful job putting people on point. Thank you.
ОтветитьMy mother was suckered in to this and it took a lot of conversations to convince her to drop the subscription. Wish I’d had your video back then
ОтветитьThx for pointing this out, I think you’re being generous, this ppl know what they’re doing, they’ve put in their homework. Now let’s spread the knowledge.
ОтветитьIt’s sad really!
Ответить"Unsearched"🤣. Avoid it.
Ответитьwonderful video👍
ОтветитьDefinitely Sharing this.....!!!
ОтветитьDo you think silver is gonna go under $20 an ounce
ОтветитьYou have been doing this for a long time now, you need a camera whose focus and exposure are manual, not automatic, or at least that they can be locked, specifically focus ... Lock the Focus ... to level up your video game.
ОтветитьYou would think most elderly people,(I’m going on 76), unless they are mentally impaired, have seen hyped up advertising most their life and should have a lot of skepticism in this area. They tend to believe there’s no free lunch, or if it’s too good to be true, it’s probably not. Saying all that I can understand what you’re saying and appreciate it. Thanks. I get tons of this junk mail.
ОтветитьCan't believe the timing of this video.
I just got a call from a verified number.
I won eight million dollars. From the Publisher Clearing House.
1. They were trying to see if I was home.
2. They thought I was greedy.
3. They thought I lacked intelligence.
Thank you.
Peace 💕🇺🇲
I learned my lesson when I bought "Sea Monkeys" from the Johnson Smith Company many years ago.
ОтветитьI DO get the AARP magazine....and there's usually an article bemoaning people who scam (or mislead, at least) the elderly (and the rest of us). ON THE OPPOSITE PAGE there will
be an ad of the sort you talk about. Coin spam, yes, and I think we all know who I mean when I mention the company who swears the road to riches is through buying REPLICA
watches, etc. Reminds me of the back pages of comic books of yore selling 'x-ray spex'! LoL
I’d love to see how the Hone Shopping Network would try to spin this one 🤑
ОтветитьVery good video. Thank you for sharing it with us.
ОтветитьTruthfully, anybody who has reached the status of "elderly" should know better than to fall for this type of advertising. It's not just coins; they market all kinds of garbage to seniors, and you'd think they'd be smart enough by now to recognize a scam when they see one. The idea that someone's brain turns to mush once they reach 65 or whatever is a conceit of younger generations. The kind of elderly person who falls for this is the kind of person who likely fell for this kind of crap marketing all their lives. Merely being old does not automatically make you stupid or gullible.
ОтветитьDaniel: Last week, there was a huge two-page ad in the Los Angeles Times for "California Residents Only!" For just $89 each, you could buy one of the silver Kennedy Half dollars that we all grew up with (1964-1968). But, wait! There's more! If the first three digits of your Zip Code matched those in the ad (they listed all the possible three-digit zip codes for California--I should know, I used to work at the Post Office), then you get a "Special Discount" of only $79 each. Hurry now! Limited Supplies!
Yikes! These people should be prosecuted! And you are correct--they target those of us collecting Social Security. Thanks for posting this important video. Cheers.
thank you Daniel you are my go-to coin guy
Ответитьguys just go to the bank you have a better chance of finding something cool in rolls of coins and its free
ОтветитьIts not just Veterans newsletters and AARP newsletters!, Littletons is notorious for abusing the elderly, its not just coins! I've been trying for months to stop American Farmland Trust from sending USPS mail after requesting them to STOP sending mail! PC Stamps & Coins is another company that incessantly abuses the elderly. Judicial Watch weeky has their hands in my dads pockets! You would think Readers Digest is above all this! NO! They send books for free to lock in a membership!
ОтветитьNothing new really, its a classic scam targeting an older generation (in this case), but essentially no different than any Ebay unsearched coin roll / estate sale/ grab bag auction that targets people 30-60yrs old and recent Facebook coin scams targeting 20-40yr olds.
People need to realize that absolutely no one who has a large volume of coins is going to part with them without searching for the cream of the crop. They will take all the junk and face value coins, mix in a few with mediocre value...just to tempt you enough to order more with the thinking that the next one will be the big score .
Appreciate you sharing this Daniel. Ebay does this also. I hate how people wanna scam elderly people out of their retirement funds that they worked so hard for over the years just so some ugly fuzzy man spend it over some booze boobies and fancy dining while elders struggle to even make basic ends meet. It infuriates me. Please continue your hard efforts to warn us of all the different methods you find about what these people do. Misleading even in part is still a lie! Thank you Daniel!
ОтветитьKeep up the great work Dave.
ОтветитьNotice the phone number on the first letter is the same one as the one in the paper !
ОтветитьThe last ad like this I saw was for walking liberty half dollars. $39 each being sold in rolls of 15. $585 for the roll. I made a PSA type video for it stating that it was a bad deal. I have a small channel, but I feel like I tried to explain this in the same way you did with this video. Thank you for doing this video.
ОтветитьHello from the great state of Michigan. Thanks for sharing. We love your great videos.
ОтветитьIt was very good of you to post this.
ОтветитьI have a friend who refuses to believe that Littleton is a ripoff. He needed money one day and asked me if I wanted to buy a Kennedy half dollar for 30 dollars that he got from Littleton. I tried to explain that they are scam artists but he got defensive and claimed that they weren't and that he buys from them all the time. He is 67 years old...I'm not sure what to do about it.
ОтветитьPassed it on to an elderly friend doing exactly that Thanks
ОтветитьThanks for this. Please do one on the guys that have newspaper ads where they say they will be at a local hotel paying “top prices” for rare coins.
ОтветитьGreat video, thank you. Would love to visit your shop someday
Ответитьi met a lady in a store yesterday here in grove city ohio she told me her husband die an she had a coin collection an didnt know where to take it i told her be careful some pawn shop an some coin shop might just rip her off i told her where to find you that i only trust you an you would not do her wrong.
ОтветитьYea the coins are always the worst grade at the highest price. A guaranteed rip off. My wife ordered a small "bank vault" of Buffalo nickels (thinking she would surprise me) and the coins were all dateless trash that she paid WAY to much for. I told her it was a nice gesture but to please leave the coin buying to me as she was Truely taking advantage of by shysters.
ОтветитьMy thoughts about Littleton:
Caveat Emptor - 1. Littleton is good for Folders and Supplies. Example-Sometimes they have their folders on sale for $2.95. 2. Their Coin subscription specials are not too bad IF YOU JUST take the bait special and IMMEDIATELY Cancel. Example 5 Mercury Dimes WWII $14.95, 1941-1945, Folder Special $2.95, 3. There are complete collections you can get from Littleton that are not too overpriced, example 56 Uncirculated National Park Clad Quarter series, $29.95 Free Shipping. Littleton does not get upset when you discontinue their Subscriptions, or send back their overpriced “Coins on Review.” You will not be ripped-off as much as this article, you Could be IF you are not careful!
I see these ads all the time and all over the place. They actually look like the "too-good-to-be-true" ads. You're a good dealer Daniel...one of the good dealers nationally. Thanks for calling out these things. It's important people understand the truth behind it. Too bad it's perpetuated by organizations like AARP and others.
ОтветитьJust opened my latest edition of Reader’s Digest. Laughed out loud when I saw an ad for $5 gold eagles. Uses all the tactics you mention in this video. “Final Release” “10 per household limit” “Only 2500 left”. The price itself isn’t out of line. $225 but no where does it mention the $5 eagle is 1/10th of an ounce and the picture leads you to believe it is the size of a one ounce coin. My favorite is in fine print is a minimum order of 5 coins. It also says “special arrangements on orders over 50K but the limit is 10 per household so how can you order 50K worth? 😂
Ответитьgrading submission question. i have an 1834 quarter eagle. i don't know how to date NGC holders but it may be older. the coin is graded 61. fields are fully lusturess coin is well struck with full detail, i am unable to find more then one tiny curved contact mark. Comparing it to graded samples on the PCGS price guide web page, the minimal grade on this coin is an easy 63, putting into 10K range. Is it possible to submit the coin to PCGS for crossover but only with a 63 minimal grade?
ОтветитьLike any large purchase, people should spend a few minutes on line and get an idea of the average price of any product you are interested in buying.
Ответитьthank you Daniel
Ответитьit just seems american to me
ОтветитьDaniel is an honest Numismatist. These guys are rare nowadays. Thank you for telling us the truth about scammers.
ОтветитьEven with the order form itself they try to give it the patina of an "official" document when they call it "FORM 2022 W-821"!!??!!
