You’re so upset by a go-around that you request a number on final!

The phone blablabla was unnecessary from the pilot , he wants to find out what ? The obvious already? Alot of free time at this pilot hand

Eh? Stop saying she made a mistake, she didn't. She tells Endeavor to keep rolling, and tells them there's traffic on 3.5 mile final. It takes very little time to take off, so it's very unusual that they were so slow. Obviously, the ATC is fully prepared to make the incoming plane go around if necessary.

She was genuinely so nice and she spotted her mistake quickly you can just feel the joy leaving her voice as the situation progresses. I just hope that the only reason he wanted a number was so he could file a company report as for the reason behind the go around

The degree of non-standard radio phraseology in USA is maximum.
They want to make it cool, and make it the worst radio communication in terms of standardization.

I don't see the problem here. She handled it as well as any controller. She told them to go around before there was even a real conflict. Humans make mistakes, just a go around, it happens.

Fairly simple mistake that she apologised for, was really nice and professional - didnt want to air the issue over the radio. She misjudged how close SW was (clearing 3.5miles is pretty quick in a plane lol) and time would take to get there, and how long spirit wings would take to press the proverbial go button. in hindsight easy to say should wait until SW lands and then clear and caution is the better way when trying to stack planes

BWI controllers are the worst. Can't tell how many times I've sat waiting on a SW flight for a gate here regardless of arrival time. Good to see pilots actually holding the ATC accountable.

Edit: She can be the nicest ATC controller... That doesn't make flights go in and out quickly and safely. I prefer my ATCs to be confident. She's clearly more customer service than air traffic controller.

So Endeavor was a tad too slow, she could have said "cleared for take off, no delay" and maybe that takeoff roll would've happened just in time to avoid the SWA go-around
... except of course if it was all a ploy (as said by others) to get him to get her phone number....

Southwest should have been more direct along the lines of "whats the reason for go-around" as opposed to "inwuiring minds want to know". Im sure he would have gotten his answer quickly that way.

Why is it always female ATC controllers almost getting people killed in the last couple of months? The most egregious was the female controller in San Diego where she almost had a private jet land on the SWA 737 cleared for takeoff.

Seems like she was expecting the other plane to have a little more time to take off than what actually happened. A simple mistake with an easy fix. We are all human and mistakes happen. From comments she seems to be the most friendly controller in the country.

Curious to know what the atc standard separation is in this circumstance. Seemed really off that she cleared a crossing takeoff with someone on a 3.5 final. EWR typically doesn't let me cross 4/22 at low altitude (in a heli) with anyone on less than a 7 mile final. Previous airport i flew at for a few years would let me cross with traffic on a 3 mile (and even a GA on short final sometimes).

Do commercial pilots need to log reason for go around? I imagine the costs and potential delays can add up so it's something the bean counters need to know.

I won’t dox her name, but I have spoken to her personally after a safety event (not controller fault) and she is as personable and she professional as it gets. It makes my day every time I fly into BWI and she’s running local. Only non 121 armchair quarterback wannabes will put disparaging comments about this controller.

Reasonable thing. Controller made a mistake in the TO clearance for the Endeavour, SW pilot probably needs to know the reason for the goaround and doesn't want to hog the frequency needlessly. Well handled aside from the mistake, by all parties.
