Taken from Rodney Booth’s 1998 album entitled “Look Over There”, “Miss Michal, Madie, and Me” is a tune about Rodney’s two daughters and the struggles of raising kids. I tend to take bigger inspirations during my music career from the people closest to me instead of the people who have influenced the music’s history and Rodney Booth is one of those people. I started taking lessons from him during a time where I was exploring other methods of expressing myself through music like other instruments, writing, and audio engineering. However, I started to feel as though playing the trumpet was more of a chore instead of an extension of my own voice. Rodney single handedly reignited my passion for trumpet playing and helped me realize that even though I could express myself in many ways, I could also find the same enjoyment in playing trumpet. I wrote this arrangement as a thank you letter to him and everything he’s done for me.

This recording of "Miss Michal, Madie, and Me" is taken from my bachelors degree recital at the University of North Texas. For those of you who know this tune, or have watched the full recital video, you don't have to watch this again unless you want to. However, if the full concert video is too long and you don't have time, this video is probably for you!
