Gibson, by a very slight hair. But the Sire is really good! And the price of the Gibson compared to the Sire, especially for the closeness in tone, no comparison. The Gibson is a shameful price. The Sire is awesome - and for those many out there "normal" people that always dreamed of owning a Gibson, they'd have to save up for a long, LONG time as Gibson and their arrogance is second to none. Does Gibson make very good guitars, of course, but for the prices, not only no, but hell no.

Gibson are unbelievably arrogant. The prices are insulting. I have a Japanese Tokai LS100Q that better than any Gibson ive ever owned, or played. No way I'd touch a Gibson again!

...it's all about "soramanego". Both guitars in my hands sound awful

Great playing and choice of music. Love Garry Moore. I’ve never had the pleasure of playing an R9. I can only hope they are as good as the owners say. My Sire L7 has excellent playability and sustain like no other guitar I’ve played. The pickups is where these two really separate. The stock Sire Larry Carlton signature pickups sound good until you hear a good set of Burstbuckers or Custombuckers. This demo just reinforces what I’ve already concluded from many other vids, a good set of Burstbuckers is the sound you didn’t know you were missing. So if I wanted I could buy a set of Burstbuckers for about $350; and the line between these two burrs reven closer. Seymour Duncan or DiMarzio can get you there for much less. Overall the Sire is hands down a better deal from a players perspective. I tweaked the setup on mine myself and I’d say it’s 95% of what a skilled luthier would do. More players should learn how to set up their guitars. The videos are free!

Very interesting comparison...the R9 bites a little bit more...but my respect to the L7 and I nearly like the tone better. I would choose the Sire. Its more a guitar a musician can afford.

Gibson has a richer sound with more body, Sire is good too (sounds a little compressed) but Gibson has the edge.

Gibson for me sounds the part. Sire was too warm.

Very tastefull playing! I think the sire with some SD pearly gates wil shine bright 😁 I set my mind on that setup. And Gary Moore shines always !

The Gibson was meatier and better sounding but not that much and considering the many thousands of dollars difference in price the Sire wins hands down for me.

Not many audiences can tell the difference in the tone. Choosing the one you feel comfortable playing is the key; consider the budget you can spend. I will go with the Sire, with the money and all the great features the Sire has.

Awesome playing and nice way to showcase both guitars. I own a Gibson LP standard and just bought the Sire LV7 (with the P99’s). Although the Sire is good out of the box, you could upgrade all hardware and electronics for around $500 and have a very similar quality to the Gibson for 5x less.

I think any reason to get another guitar is a good reason😊. I think the idea of everyone wanting to compare a less expensive guitar to more a more expensive guitar is normal, I just think there are too many factors of what constitutes a good guitar or makes a guitar worth the price to debate over. If anyone likes a guitar and it feels, sounds and looks good to them, and makes them feel excited to play, then that’s all that matters.

I put some better pickups in my L7 (custom hand wound creamy PAFs) and it is an absolute giant killer now. It has the feel and tone of a very expensive guitar.

If your skill and budget justifies the R9 buy it. I buy three-year-old new old stock golf clubs because my game doesn't justify playing the latest technology. I bought a Sire Les Paul copy because I can't justify spending R9 money on a guitar, i can afford one I just can't justify it.

Sounds the same through that system. However, quality is obviously better with Gibson. My Gibson perloids on fret board buckled up at bottoms of perloids so I'm reluctant to buy another Gibson.
