This is a heart breaking story and one I can relate to, I went through the care system in South East London during the late 70s and 80s and those places were brutal, I came out age 17 angry and traumatized by the whole experience and walked straight into a gang war where I was targeted by association, within weeks of getting my council bedsit I was fighting for my life, my best friend was beaten up so bad he died of a brain tumor.
This country doesn't look out for vulnerable kids, it never has and it never will.
I'm glad he is getting his life together now, this guy certainly deserves a lucky break.

This is the story that needs to be shown to people who just say “just work harder” “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” “you’re just lazy” this is a great guy who was dealt a shit hand, all of the choices he made were rational it’s just the only choices he had were fucking horrible.
