Great, informative video Alex. Looking forward to the next one in the series. 🙂
ОтветитьEvery time I watch one of your incredible videos I learn something new and fascinating! ❤️🙏🙏🙏
ОтветитьSo interesting! Thank you.
ОтветитьWell good, keep them coming
ОтветитьI absolutely love the subject of old England.
ОтветитьA very good video. That wasn't St Martin's Church at 3.51. A nice speaking voice but with a tendency to drop Ts.
ОтветитьWhat a wonderful way of demonstrating the evolution of churches! Again, wonderfully done =]
ОтветитьI am in complete awe of the masons and artisans who designed, built and decorated these beautiful places of worship. To think that they often made up new techniques for building and everything else they did as part of church construction and decoration is mind boggling. Thank you for what I consider to be the best explanation and description of the evolution of medieval churches of all that I have read/seen.
The Medieval Period has always fascinated me since I was very young. At the beginning of the pandemic I got a very bad case of Covid and have been dealing with Long Covid since. To pass the time I began an intensive study of this period of time from many angles (music, architecture, history, literature, religion etc). Your videos add another truly excellent dimension to my study. Thank you so very much for providing such an excellent source for all things Medieval.
Very nice video
ОтветитьGreat video! My new favorite channel too! Can't wait to watch and learn more!
ОтветитьGreat documentation and with the choir singing in the background it creates such a mystic atmosphere.
ОтветитьHaving a deep interest in the development of the Medieval Church, my 2 points relate to - 1) choice of title wording which some of the comments repeat. Do you mean evolution in its 'blind, pitiless, mutational change over eons' definition? Or in its vernacular and misappropriated sense of random change over time? Either way, I find such wording does a disservice to the many craftsmen dedicated to utilising their skills and hard graft on the raw rock, stone & glass. Just as this video didn't just 'evolve' but required planning, design & expert execution, building skills & honed techniques have been deliberately developed to produce artefacts of exquisite beauty... 2) the video states 'holes punched through walls...' to increase the size of the chapel..is there archeological or historical evidence that individual chapels were reconfigured in this way? My understanding is that as each new Christian artefact was purposefully conceived, designed, organised & expertly executed, the development of the simple chapel (which for some congregations still exists) to magnificent cathedral is one of intense methodical planning and foresight.
