Thanks very much.
ОтветитьI’ve started ballet lessons at age 72. I learnt ballet for ten years in my youth, so have found my muscle memory to be amazing. The only actions I’m having trouble with are jumps, but as I’m only about to do lesson number five, I’m sure I’ll manage it in time. My feet are stronger already. The music is also beautiful as I know all the tunes and songs. It sure beats the gym!
ОтветитьI'm 57 and in great shape...at least outwardly. I have a decent amount of muscle mass on my legs and look better than men half my age. But my feet are pretty much done and thats what I worry about. Chronic plantar fascitis and a nagging metatarsal stress fracture. My right foot feels like its going to break in half when I walk. What can I do to make my feet in as good shape as the rest of my body?
ОтветитьIn my thirties, my mother said, see what stilettos did to my feet.
I have been conscious of the foot support and shoes i've worn ever since. and here I am learning more from you.
I have a very narrow foot, and I want to build my toe strength.
What about flips flops? I live in mine, including winters with toe socks to keep my feet warm.
ОтветитьThank you-I needed this information! Dr. Conley is well-spoken and obviously very knowledgeable. I am 66, very fit, but have ongoing foot issues. A visit to the Podiatrist did NOTHING. I am also in need of a new pair of walking shoes ... now I know what to look for :)
ОтветитьThis is so confusing when major medical websites say that foot problems can be caused by wearing shoes that don't have enough support. I just ordered some barefoot shoes and have been walking barefoot in the house. Please explain. Thanks!
ОтветитьWe’re do you live it’s more prevalent in countries that get ice and snow. And now days the city doesn’t like their workers to shovel snow they want them to blow off the snow on the sidewalks with hair blowers lol which makes the sidewalks icy plus the city usually spends all their money in their budget so the parking lot are left with snow and ice and people don’t shovel their part of the sidewalks on their property and the crazy thing about it is you can’t sue them
ОтветитьMy dad have both weak legs and he’s on the wheelchair but still can stand but can’t walk anymore. He is now 91 years old.
ОтветитьIt’s crazy no one here is talking about the hidden herbs by Anette Ray…
Ответитьi know my comment will probably get burried somewhere but for everyone reading this go find the hidden herbs book by anette ray. you can come back and thank me later
ОтветитьPool exercises, and water aerobics ate a great way to get toe strength.
ОтветитьThis is good news for me. I've lifted weights all my life but my legs have seriously lagged the rest of my body..I want to die because of many things so bring it on weak legs!
ОтветитьNeeds Calcaciam iron Strong bones balance .
ОтветитьI have been wearing wide toe box, zero drop trainers for a few years now and they solved most of my feet problems. I had never taken my thinking to the next level though but I will definitely be incorporating toe exercises into my fitness regime now. Thanks for such a great podcast.
Ответитьpeople are not supposed to stand or walk all dat or eat poisons
ОтветитьI love my hoka sandals.
Ответитьtheres no science to grounding barefoot
buy my course and some $200 barefoot shoes instead 👍👍
There are some advantages with minimalist, or barefoot, shoes and sandals. But they may not work for you if you are on flat surfaces a lot, such as concrete. I screwed up my feet because of this. I will never wear those kind of footwear again.
ОтветитьWhy would you spread such negative word to seniors! Shame on you!!!! I reject every word you speak out. Bye
ОтветитьI wear barefoot shoes. Totally changes the way you walk. Definitely helps your foot work correctly! I am almost 70.
ОтветитьThank you very much ❤️ wonderful experts both of you ❤️
ОтветитьThis is great information, thank you so much!
ОтветитьAmazing 🤙
ОтветитьBah, Ze hebben weer wat bedacht om geld mee te verdienen!
ОтветитьExcellent podcast. I tried Altra Lone peak 8 earlier this year and at 70 I don’t care what anyone thinks about the wide toe box. My feet are happy and I can walk twice as far.
ОтветитьExcellent advice about footwear. Yes, free our feet from restrictive footwear that damages them.
ОтветитьThank you, for bringing such an essential yet often overlooked topic to light! Dr. Courtney Conley’s insights are a real wake-up call. It’s amazing to learn how much our foot strength and gait impact overall wellness and longevity, especially as we age. The practical advice on footwear choices and exercises we can do at home makes this information easy to implement. Dr. Conley’s work on optimizing foot health is truly inspiring, and it’s empowering to realize how much control we have over our mobility and long-term health. Thank you both for such a valuable and insightful episode!
ОтветитьI had a very difficult marriage and walking has saved me! I am 73 and still walk 2 hours a day and I feel amazing! This lady is awesome. Thanks for the information…
ОтветитьI love Xero shoes. ❤
ОтветитьI have osteoarthritis in both knees. My height is 145 cm. My weight is also high, 83 kg. Can I walk? If yes then will it worsen my osteoarthritis. Please guide.
ОтветитьVery true. Two of my sister, 85 and 98, a sister linlaw & my wife who was 88, all fell before they all past away. 😢
Ответить❤ Don’t think I’ve ever watched this channel before. What an excellent important conversation. This lady not only knows her stuff she is one of the best communicators I’ve ever seen. I’ve done a lot of health education. She rocks. And Dhru did an awesome job of summarising her points and asking the juicy questions we are sitting here wondering about. Impressive
ОтветитьI tore my plantar plate by going barefoot on the beach in mid 60s. Going barefoot is not for everyone. So Hoka and OofaS should go out of business?
ОтветитьGreat information❤
ОтветитьI love this doctor!❤️Really appreciate her support for the people 👏
ОтветитьIf you have gout in the big toe, are you doomed?
ОтветитьΙ want to block your page but i dont know how to unfirtunately
ОтветитьThis is so timely for me. Thank you for sharing this information.
ОтветитьI really like Courtney... When is her book coming out on walking? I tried following her advice on minimalist shoes but for some reason since I walk 20K steps a day it just wasn't practical... I was getting too much heel and Achilles pain... I switched back to a comfortable well padded walking shoe on the advice of a podiatrist customer of mine and the pain went away. I do try to be barefoot as often as possible especially when working out.
ОтветитьWhat about people who have small ankles and have lost a lot of the fat pads in the bottom of the foot? It becomes extremely hard and painful to walk barefoot if you have worn down feet.
ОтветитьThat si what i tell all thé time! Stop staying on a chair and put your Weight on your Feet
ОтветитьSo true
ОтветитьAs a reflexologist, I often encourage my patients to change shoes halfway during their work day. I also encourage them to wear shoes made of natural materials. Both make a huge difference.
ОтветитьAlways workout your legs... FOREVER
ОтветитьI have tired some of these shoes, however living in the Phoenix area I haven't been able to find any that don't radiate the heat up through the thin sole. Any suggestions?
ОтветитьI enjoy picking things up with my bare feet.
Ever see the video about The incredible boy who has no arms. He does everything with his feet.
Including feeding himself. What a great person.❤
Regarding the 6m45s mark on using a dynamometer to check that the big toe can produce 10% of body weight.. how does the 256hz tuning fork test toe strength? Lean-Test, banded-foot-work? Would love to see a video demonstrating all these!
Once a foot-injury has occurred, like an ankle-sprain, what is a good healing procedure? How long would it take to fully heal in an older adult?
Regarding exercises (ex. standing single-leg calf raises half body weight 6x), any thoughts on bare-foot tree climbing? balance-beam / Tight-rope ? Black Board trainer , Goxy Balance Board ?
Regarding shoes, I used to wear the Xero "alston" model, but they've been discontinued. Their newer shoes, like the Glenn Casual Leather models, seem to have rather thick soles by comparison. Others are only available in Europe (ahinsa Ananda Light Brown, Groundies Palermo Barefoot+).. other similar looking shoes are also discontinued (Vivobarefoot RA II 8996426 , WHITIN Extra Wide Minimalist Barefoot Zero Drop Sole shoes). Saguaro Noble II or the tadeevo Derby Light Brown Minimilist shoes? Be Lenka Cityscape - Salted Caramel Brown?
BTW, I recommend the freakonomics episode, "These Shoes Are Killing Me!"
