Godless is fantastic start to finish

What passes for a Western these days leaves much to be desired.

I have watched them all. But the one I liked the most wasn't on here. True Grit with Jeff Bridges. I watch it often. I love his character's gravely voise. That alone cracked me up.

Godless is a limited series western masterpiece! And, Old Henry is brilliant with that completely surprise ending!

Godless was a little rough but it was great. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is actually different stories in 1 movie and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Hostiles really gets the culture of the time of late 1800's

I’m so glad you mentioned Godless! Very underrated, yet a phenomenal movie with great acting and a fresh view of this genre through the eyes of some female archetypes of the western frontier.

Power of the dog is the slowest movie I have ever seen. Harder they fall is great if you can accept that it is not trying to be a classic western

In my opinion, the only Westerns worth watching from this list are Unforgiven, High Plains Drifter, and Old Henry. I'm not saying the other picks are bad, but the three I mentioned are damn perfect Westerns—the 'gold standard,' as folks say.
