The Illusion of Reality According to Plato

👋Hi Everyone, I am reposting this video because in the original I somehow ended up with double captions. So to correct that, I have posted this one. Thanks for watching, I take a great deal of effort and thought into how to express the metaphysical ideas of philosophy, which is difficult as by definition metaphysics are ideas beyond the ordinary senses. As always I would love to hear any thoughts, ideas or suggestions on what you would like to see and how you would like to experience these videos.

Plato (427 BCE) questioned the nature of our perceived reality, proposing that what we feel, see, and touch is merely a shadow of the true reality. The two realms, the Realm of the Visible and the Realm of the Intelligible.

He believed that true reality consists of immutable, perfect Forms or Ideas, which are accessed through intellectual reasoning rather than sensory experience. According to Plato, the soul has an innate knowledge of these Forms, and learning is a process of recollecting this knowledge. He illustrated this with the Allegory of the Cave, where prisoners mistake shadows for reality until one escapes and sees the true world outside. Plato also described the universe as a living, intelligent, and purposeful entity, created by a divine craftsman (the Demiurge) who used the Forms as perfect models to shape cosmic matter into an ordered cosmos.
