The Philippines campaign, also known as the Battle of the Philippines or the Fall of the Philippines, took place from December 8, 1941 to May 8, 1942 during World War II. The Japanese Empire invaded the Philippines, an American territory at the time, as part of their wartime expansion. The Japanese saw the Philippines as a strategic location with valuable resources and wanted to eliminate General Douglas A. MacArthur's Far Eastern Air Force.


The United States and Philippine Armies defended the islands, but were defeated at the Battle of Bataan and the Battle of Corregidor in April 1942. The defending forces withdrew to the Bataan Peninsula and Corregidor, and surrendered on April 10, 1942 and May 6, 1942, respectively. The Japanese then forced the surrendered troops into the Bataan Death March, where they committed war crimes and killed between 7,000–10,000 men. The survivors were crammed into Camp O'Donnell, which was designed to accommodate 10,000 men but held 60,000, with little food, water, or medical care.


Filipino and American soldiers were defeated a the Battle of Bataan and the Battle of Corregidor in April 1942. The Japanese occupation of the Philippines occurred between 1942 and 1945 during WWII. Filipinos staged guerrilla resistance against the Japanese until 1945.

The Bataan Death March was a brutal march through the jungle during World War II that killed thousands of Filipinos and hundreds of Americans. Many survivors were outgunned and outmanned, and even after surrendering, they faced a fight for survival as they were marched to prison camps across the island. 


Ten Americans and two Filipinos had survived the ultra-brutal conditions of the Death March only to face the degradation of forced labor.

When I was in the navy we always ran a Midway GQ scenario on June 4th, simulating the hits and sinking of USS Yorktown.

I’d heard that, in US Navy war games, the US Navy would have lost every time. As luck, and other events, had to line up perfectly for precisely to the tiniest detail, for us to win the battle as well as we did. From us finding the Japanese much later, by accident, to the IJN carriers breaking formation to evade the constant bomber attacks, to Midway island not receiving as much damage as the Japanese thought. Including the ace pilots that were present in the battle. By the end of it, the IJN lost much. They lost severely, and would not recover from that point on throughout the war. America fought through a brutal battle that day too, but the Japanese fleet were beyond shocked they’d lost so much so quickly. Overall, it had to have been one of the largest and bloodies battles in the Pacific of the war.

The only bad part about this song is it’s to short

The Navy and Yorktown sisters would avenge Pearl. And later, Enterprise would avenge her sisters. One failure by the IJN, was that they’d thought Americans were weak, foolish, had no discipline or courage. But, attack the U.S. unprovoked? You learn what happens when all 50 unite against you. Sure, other countries then, didn’t take America seriously, but cross a line, and the Giant could become deadly serious. And beyond wrathful.
