Shredding that thing - that last clip with the head hit was brutal
ОтветитьI’m 5’11” an intermediate surfer with bad shoulders and I got a 6’0” with medium thruster fins, and it works great for me. I can still put it on rail and it’s an easy paddler. I use it in choppy East Coast Florida shorebreak 🤙🏼
ОтветитьI've owned many boards. The Cado is instantly the best groveler I've ever surfed.
Never learnt to surf the Seaside, just didn't make sense to my style perhaps. Chumlee and Potatoes were good in exactly the right conditions but terrible in anything else.
Thanks Rob, i think you've nailed it 🙏
this is a great way to review a board, thank you.
ОтветитьMakes me think of the days in high school when the surf team would check Dane’s blog everyday for a new video! You’re ripping on that thing!
ОтветитьThoughts on the pu vs spintek? Pairing this with a rnf 96, ci twin pin and a lane splitter. All my other boards are pu but the spinetek looks great on these
ОтветитьWhat is the FT surfboard you mentioned?
ОтветитьWhere you riding PU or Spine Tek construction? Do you have any comments about the Spine Tek?
If you had to choose between your Mashup or the Dumpster diver 2, which would you pick?
Thanks for the review! So glad you used the mashup to compare the board. I have the mashup and was actually looking for a "step up" option, for when the conditions get slightly better (still around the 2 ft range where you could perfectly ride both but are feeling more keen to something more performance). Seems like this could be a good complement. Where I live the waves never go beyond 2.5-3 ft and is still very mushy, so it's a very thin line to walk when you're trying to cut on the groveler features and add more performance on the mix.
If you get to read this would appreciate if you can let me know if this makes sense or if I am way off. Cheers and thanks again!
Not sure its designed for a 2 plus 1. Id stick to thruster
ОтветитьHi Thomye. Great review. How do you think this would compare to a SharpEye Inferno 72? I ride that as my HPSB. Looking for a small wave performance board, but wondering if the DD2 is too similar to the Inferno 72.
ОтветитьLoved the insight! We surfed the same dimensions but in a thruster and I enjoyed the board. There were no magical moments for me on the board but solid all around.
ОтветитьBest configuration to surf that board is some upright fins like the mayhem set
ОтветитьGreat review how does the dd2 compare to pyzels phantom?
ОтветитьI subscribed to your new, additional channel. I am interested to hear your thoughts on van camping and surfing. Good luck on this new endeavor!
ОтветитьLove how it has a good positive glide during paddle in. Just ordered one!
ОтветитьHave you tried it as a thruster yet?
ОтветитьHow does this compare to the dominator 2.0?
ОтветитьPicking up my custom order DD2 from XTR for my upcoming waco trip soon, should be interesting. Might be worth the purchase to get the new futures vector fins. I got them and they've been amazing on my phantom and gremlin.
ОтветитьIf it's slipping as a 2+1 I've found that the MF Hatchet twin + trailer really helps to give it a bit more grip.
ОтветитьGreat vid and review as always Thomye. Still using Soloshot?
ОтветитьThanks for this review
Super useful since, as you mentioned, you showed very well how it works in small mushy waves
"411 SCORE", AWESOME BREAKDOWN YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHH!!
👏😎👏
It's still a performance board. It has a hip squash to help pivot off the bottom. Compared to a good wave shortboard, the tail is actually pretty wide. The overall board is meant to be wider with a rounder outline. These are adjustments from the normal shortboard for not "good waves" but for your daily SoCal stuff. So, compared to your performance shortboard it's shorter, wider, with more volume, has rounder profile outline, and has a bigger block tail. It compares to other shapers: Pyzel Red Tiger, Lost Sub Driver. These are variations with slightly different characteristics meant to take a performance shortboard into sub-par conditions. For twin plus trailer, there are other boards that complement that setup that Thomye has reviewed. More fishy or midlenth boards have the tail width for that setup. They're wider, with flatter rockers, are more buoyant, and tend to plane more, so the big twin/trailer works, whereas this is more performance-less planning, more driving off a sunken tail with a thruster setup. It's a good board for sure and Thomye makes it look good, but in deciding - on a spectrum, this is more performance shortboard and less fishy twin/trailer.
ОтветитьI have one of these and this review nails it. Really good when the wave has curve but gets slippy on flat faces.
ОтветитьAwesome review Thomye. How would you compare this to the NB2?
ОтветитьBeautifull board, please try to make another video with good waves. For the waves you caught, probably the best board should be in the spine teck construction.
I had two original dumpster divers, 10 years ago, what a great board it was. There was no epoxy back then.
Already subscribed the other channel, hope you get a couple in the weekend.
Great review Thomye, this is my favourite one of yours so far mate 👍
ОтветитьGreat Video Mr. T, very explanatory.
Always an unlimited source of knowledge.
Happy to subscribe to any other channel of yours to represent and support 💯🙌🏼💪🏽🤙🏼
Thanks man. Always enjoy your vids. I’ll look through your other vids to see if you have done one on the Sunday.. it’s sparked my interest of late. I’ll be comparing that against the Moe, as a next board. Cheers Jas
ОтветитьGreat review, Thomye! DD2 looks great under your feet in subpar CA waves🤩
ОтветитьGreat review! Does this board perform better in smaller surf than the dominator 2? I’m looking at this board the mash up, the dominator 2 and the bobby quad? I surf in NJ and the majority of days in the summer are smaller so I need a great paddler without losing the performance.
ОтветитьGreat review! So valuable to see boards in subpar waves.
Have you asked Noel Salas for a potential collaboration? You could borrow the boards he tests. Nothing to lose in asking I guess.
Haha that last wave, painful!
Great stuff! Already subscribed to the new channel!
Btw I sprained both my knees at the same time on a close out because I didn’t have enough wax on the board. Learned it the hard way
Haha! Love the elegant dismount into shore, ouch! good review mate! But that surf🤢….gunna stick to my JS’s.
ОтветитьAnother great review! You mentioned that using a 2+1 requires more foot movement. I was wondering if you could elaborate on that. BTW subscribed to your other channel. Hit me up if you ever make it to Hawaii!
ОтветитьYou rip Thomye no doubt. However, do you think the board looked a little bit over sensitive/twitchy in the footage. I always thought you look very smooth and there’s a lot of flow but this board kinda looked abit less flowy
ОтветитьGreat review! Quick question, if you are between sizes volume wise would you size up or down? Thank you!
ОтветитьI know you didn't like the NB3. How does the DD2 feel different as a performance groveler?
ОтветитьWould the board brands/shops be willing to loan you boards to test? They have those traveling demo board vans and I’ve definitely made purchase decisions based on your reviews
ОтветитьBeat me to it 😂 such a fun board.
Ответитьwill you review Album surfboards?
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьI put my bottom teeth through my lower lip one day in a similar fashion. It was 9/11 and I was getting stitches watching the WTC disaster
ОтветитьI got my answer later in this video. Thanks Thomye!
ОтветитьDo you think the DD2 is better than the Bobby quad, for high performance surfing, in very small waves such as in your Bobby quad review video?
ОтветитьI have one and initially used AM2 fins. It felts sticky compared to my Happy Everyday. I bought the DD2 fins and it's perfect for it. Board started to feel loose but still holds and goes fast. You should try it with the DD2 fins.
ОтветитьDo we need link to new channel search couldn't find it...
ОтветитьThanks man❤ Another great surfing video!🤙🏼
