farm truck for sure
ОтветитьTell me you'll color sand that down to that orange paint under that poop brown paint.
ОтветитьSuggest all you want. It's gonna get a full reconditioning and a Duramax. Was that the Roseanne set?
ОтветитьMiss my 77 GMC Sierra
ОтветитьMaybe the best dollar ever spent. Unless you like Ford's for some reason.
Unleash the hateful comments! ;-)
Left out the fact that it came with the desired large back window.
Only way it would be better is if it were a short fleet bed.
I also wanna know where you bought that thing for a dollar.
Anything sub $2k for a runner that isn't molested is a screaming deal.
This should be fun and interesting. I bought a 65 C20 in 2000. Mine is a step side and had that same transmission with the original 283. I installed that same engine, a 350 crate motor from Mr. Goodwrench in mine along with a TH350 transmission. Picked up a Square Body front end for the power steering and disc brakes. I also replaced that damn rear end with a 3.55 limited slip that came out of an F350. I had to do a little fabricating to make it work with coil springs but it's been well worth it to be able to drive over 45 MPH and not sound like it will blow up any minute! Gear sets for that Eaton in a different range were non existent. At least, I couldn't find any, so I assumed they don't make them. I also replaced the springs with a new set of progressive springs to give it a little more load capacity along with better shocks.
It rides like a pickup rides from that era and doesn't feel like a car. But it drives like a dream, will pull anything I've wanted to pull and stops very well with the discs up front and the one ton shoes in the rear. That engine was supposed to have 290 HP at the crank when I ordered it and it chirps shifting into 2nd, even shifting on it's own along with the higher gear ratio rear end. I also had a shift kit installed in the transmission by the shop that rebuilt it before I installed it too. I am very happy with the outcome, even after spending much more money than I had originally planned to spend 21 years ago when I picked it up. I almost forgot the Vintage Air conditioning that I installed in it about 10 years ago. It gets a little warm here in Texas driving it in summer.
I don't have much rust, considering how old it is. The rockers could stand to be replaced along with patch panels in the lower fenders but I haven't decided whether I'll ever do any body work on it at all. I may just wash it with CLR one day and then clear coat it after treating the rust with Ospho, or something like it, to stop it from getting worse. I am going to replace the floor and replace the bench with a set of good bucket seats and add shoulder harnesses to go with the lap belts I installed. Seat belts weren't mandatory in 1965 so I had to add them and that bench seat was worn out long before I got this thing. But I am anxiously awaiting the updates as you work on yours and the Dyno results! Mine will be a little less since it has to power an automatic transmission but your number will be a good ballpark number for me to keep in mind.
I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine. But hey, if you decide that you hate it I'll gladly pay you double what you paid for it!
Any chance of a manual transmission
ОтветитьCalifornians don't know what rust is. They think they do, But they dont. They've never had to cut off en exhaust clamp thats only 3 months old. That hurts lemme tell you.
ОтветитьI am from minnesota. you guys do not even know rust. the term rusted to the door handles. one guy with a 62 chevy pickup hit a bump and the passenger door fell off on the street. he found nothing left to attach it to.
Ответитьthis talking head guy does not know much.
ОтветитьI miss my 65 c20. 1st things I did to it was took that rearend out and put in a 14 bolt FF with 3.73s, front crossmember and suspension out of a donor square body pickup so id have disc brakes and clamshell motor mounts, built a nice 275hp 327 and towed my race car from coast to coast for years. The newer alum 8 lug wheels bolt right on :)
ОтветитьI think you’ll be able to find most of the missing stuff through places like NPD but even still at 1 dollar it’s a hell of a deal.
Ответитьget a refund.
ОтветитьYou should throw a small turbo diesel motor in not a huge one but a small one and then squeeze a little bit of the numbers up
ОтветитьI know what you should do. You should FINISH KILLING THE DURAMAX FIRST I'M TIRED OF WAITING. Please.
ОтветитьBe different. Build a high HP turbo inline 6. No LS. No diesel. No standard v8.
ОтветитьPowerstroke Swap it like a Ford Chevy disgrace.
Ответитьfirst it needs a Cummings.
ОтветитьMy new favorite channel.
ОтветитьI like this video. I own a 1966 Chevy C-10 Custom I am doing a resto-mod to in my garage. I look forward to getting it done. The C20 you're working on has more than just potential. It will be a neat truck when you're done with it.
ОтветитьI don't think y'all know what a rust bucket is. I would've swapped in a high compression 350 and cammed it and put an exhaust on it
ОтветитьThe only decent memory I have of my childhood includes a 66 chevy half ton. It was faded red and in good shape for how old it was... My step father was an ass and sold it to an old fella who only used it to haul fire wood out of the woods to his house..
ОтветитьHold up.....I love Mr. Banks. But let's clear the air...im surprised he was ok with altering facts. He is NOT the one who named this truck. Sean Holman from The Truck Show Podcast did! And he is the one who loaned Lightning the $1 to purchase said truck from a listener.....Shame on you. You should Mounter your parameters better! Lol. Yeah buddy!
ОтветитьThat living room looks like the set from the Roseanne.
ОтветитьLol three episodes and still nothings changed on the truck lmao seems like nobody wants anything to do with that old timer haha
Ответить🤔truckshow podcast🤔
ОтветитьDo the full body restoration. Cummins 5.9 with an Alison transmission.
Ответитьskip
ОтветитьRobin egg blue enamel
Ответитьhow'd you manage to buy it for a dollar
Ответить6V53TA, 4 spd w/2sp rear
ОтветитьGreat music. Thumbs up for the composer and band - even if it's all the same person
ОтветитьThey didn't come with air conditioning, it was just a vent and fan, the heater draws from the engine bay and the "cool" comes from the wiper cowl
Ответитьin 1966 my Dad ordered a Carryall. In the end it cost the dealer more for it then what he payed because of a contract. It had the 327 idust motor. Those half leafs you showed and much more. Before he took it off the road it had over a million miles on it and all that was done is 8 exhaust valves and new rings at 500k miles. Yep thats correct old bearings cam lifters all went back in. He also had a 1966 1 ton 4x4 and a 1966 2.5 ton. All 3 still run today and are in hands of older brother. the 1 ton 4x4 is powered by a old 327 fuel injected Vet motor.
ОтветитьSure wish your playlist wasn't backwards
ОтветитьRust, rot, dents and scratches are not damage anymore, it's patina.
ОтветитьReally? A dollar.... A buck, right lol. Running and driving.
ОтветитьSeat belts in cars, sure a few years later. The DOT however did not require lap belts in pickup truck until July 1970.
They could be ordered in 1967, 3-point seat belts where an additional $45 for these. Also in 1967, the rear window was small, but $62 extra, it was built to have the "Panoramic Rear Window", (RPO code A10) standard in 1967.
DK, ASE master tech since 78.
People should be able to post photos of their trucks in the comment section
ОтветитьCall LMC Trucks they everything for that truck. Good luck.
ОтветитьWhere can I find part 2???
ОтветитьYou paid a dollar? That’s like a $5000 truck as is.
ОтветитьActually 72 was the first year that was mandated for pickups to have seat belts cars in 66
ОтветитьMy 66 C10 has power steering and AC from the factory
ОтветитьI have a 66 C10 truck. But mine is in alot better shape. It's on my channel and I take it to car shows
ОтветитьBought that for a $1? I highly doubt that, thats not a rust bucket either, that 66 is in great shape
Ответить
