No Be Only Virus

The morning sun crept over the tin roofs of the slum neighborhood, bathing the dusty ground in orange light. Mama Ife sat on a wooden stool beside her makeshift stall — a wooden table with a few baskets of tomatoes, onions, and pepper. Her hands trembled as she arranged the tired vegetables for the day’s hustle.

“Ife, abeg help me arrange the pepper well,” she said to her teenage daughter.

Ife, barefoot and wearing a faded wrapper, didn’t look up. “Mama, wetin we go chop today? This one we never sell since yesterday.”

Mama Ife sighed. “I no know, my pikin. People no dey buy again. Since this corona wahala start, everywhere just dry. Government lock road, but dem no give us anything.”

They both turned sharply as a shrill whistle pierced the air. Officer Tunde, in faded uniform and dark sunglasses, stormed towards them.

“Hey! Una dey mad? Una no hear say market no suppose open today? Who give una permission?” he barked.

“Officer abeg,” Mama Ife pleaded. “I never sell since yesterday. I get pikin wey dey hungry.”

Tunde sneered. “If you wan sell, you go settle us. You sabi wetin I mean.”

“Mek una fear God,” Mama Ife whispered.

Tunde knocked over her tray with a swift kick and walked off without looking back. Tomatoes rolled into the gutter. Mama Ife dropped to her knees, eyes full of tears, picking up what little she had left.

That night, Mama Ife started coughing. At first, it was soft. By the next day, it had worsened. She was burning with fever and shaking uncontrollably. Ife panicked and rushed her mother to the community clinic, where the line of sick people stretched around the block.

Sister Grace, the overworked nurse, looked at her with worry. “We no get test kits again o. And isolation center full. But I go give una paracetamol and herbs. Make she rest well.”

Mama Ife leaned against the wall, her breath shallow. “Na so life don be? Person no fit sick in peace again if money no dey?”

Back home, Ife tried her best. She cooked what little was left—boiled garri and pepper soup made with more pepper than meat. Their neighbor, Papa Jaga, came by with a sachet of pure water.

“This thing don tire me,” he said, sitting on an overturned bucket. “We dey shout ‘stay home,’ but who go pay rent? My brother for Lagos die last week. Dem say na corona, but na hunger first kill am.”

Ife nodded slowly, wiping her mother’s sweat-soaked forehead. “Dem give us rice that time. E no reach two cups.”

They sat in silence, the sound of a baby crying echoing through the still night. Sirens wailed in the distance, but no help came near.

Mama Ife passed away two days later. No ambulance. No hospital bed. No final words.

As Ife sat alone, staring into the shadows of her empty home, her voice cracked through the darkness.

“Dem talk say na virus we dey fight. But na hunger, police wahala, and no medicine dey kill us. Poor people no dey die for news. But we dey die every day. Corona just expose wetin we don dey suffer since.”

Outside, life carried on. Inside, something had broken—and no one came to fix it.

They look to be quite serious about this endeavor. We have been rather pleased with the discontinuation of the shenanigans here in the US. Godspeed!

Mask No Be Amulet

During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Uncle Monday—a self-declared community philosopher and unlicensed herbalist—became the unofficial pandemic expert in his street in Warri. He wore a lab coat he bought from a secondhand market and carried around a loudspeaker shouting, "No virus fit catch me! My blood dey hot pass microwave!"

Every morning, he would stand at the junction, rubbing menthol balm on his chest like body armor.

"See am!" he’d shout, smacking his chest. "Corona go fear to enter here!"

One day, the government announced that masks were mandatory. Uncle Monday complied—but in his own special way.

He cut open a mosquito net and tied it around his face like a masquerade. When someone told him it wasn’t protective, he responded:

"No be all masks be equal? E still cover my nose!"

The real drama came during a church wedding. Uncle Monday walked in with his "mask-net," spraying everyone with his homemade sanitizer, which was suspiciously just ogogoro mixed with lime.

Midway into the event, someone sneezed. Just one small atchoo.

Pandemonium broke out. Chairs flew. Auntie Bisi fainted. A man dived behind the pulpit. Uncle Monday climbed the sound speaker, shouting:

"I say am! This sneeze get spirit! Everybody kneel down for deliverance!"

Turns out, it was just dust.

The person who sneezed? Wearing their mask under their chin like a fashion statement.

Later, when officials came to do health sensitization, Uncle Monday shook his head and said, "I been talk am since—common sense no common. Even mask, dem dey wear am like necklace."

Moral of the story? During COVID, we had three types of people: the paranoid, the passive—and the performers. And sometimes, the most dangerous virus wasn’t in the air, but in the nonsense people believed.

A new study funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirms that aluminum compounds found in childhood vaccines are linked to an array of illnesses, including neurological disorders, asthma, and the Big A: autism.

Though the study’s authors tried their best to minimize the link, they were unable to sidestep a “positive association” between “vaccine-related aluminum exposure” and “persistent asthma” in children aged 24-59 months. Overall, children in the study who received 3 milligrams (mg) or more of vaccine-related aluminum had a 36 percent higher risk than children who took other vaccines to develop persistent asthma.

Note that a true vaccine-free placebo was not used in the study so as to make aluminum appear less damaging than it actually is. Had the study authors compared vaccinated children to unvaccinated children, the health risks associated with aluminum exposure would have been even more striking.

I work at a grocery store.
I can tell you that we now have several generations of people who dont know how to cook, nor do they want to learn!
They want to buy products that they can throw at their children to eat so they as parents can sit and doom scroll on their devices.
It's now part of the culture!
It's going to take decades of huge interventions in nutrition education and maybe even laws that govern children's health. This will further strain our Children's Protective Services, which is already broken.
I am optimistic about what is happening. I just know this is far from a quick fix.
On an upnote, our sales of cereals and grain based breakfast foods is going down.

Can you find any of those studies?

I was collecting my old books out of my library for my son to be given to him. One that I came across was called “Starving America” by Alfred W.McCann.
This book was published in 1912 and he knew back then our food was broken. This book can be obtained on eBay for between $50 and $70. What’s really sad there’s a picture on the inside of his daughter that had never been sick, later through the book I realize she has died . The contents of
the book sounds like today and he realized back then that the food was killing people and that the schools were experimental platforms. It said they had been putting “ash.” in food. this is pretty sad, but also amazing that it’s playing out today with the consequences of their experimental garbage.

Eat 🥩👍. Carnivore real human eating opened my eyes. I use to eat “healthy” so I thought. But it was lean meats eating, added fatty meat beef changed everything. I was so anti-fat but not anymore. My 82yr mother, no more arthritis pain “zero”, eye sight actually has measurably got better. Things that “don’t” happen. Me, no more gingivitis or periodontal disease from diet change.1yr the benefits are to many to list. We have to lower plant consumption and increase healthy animal fats.
