I'm late to the party but thought I would give my two cents. I was born and raised in So. Cal. When my husband retired we moved to the western slope of CO. I enjoyed it and the winters are mild, but CO politics were the motivation for us to move to Cheyenne in 2021. We moved in 3 days before a "once every 25 years" blizzard hit and we got almost 3 feet overnight. But our neighbors across the street helped us dig out and they even gave us some food. People here look out for each other. The skies are gorgeous, fall is glorious. The winters are very cold and very windy. But the natives here will wear shorts when it's 20 degrees out and are glad that the weather keeps the state small in population. All in all I'm glad I'm here and there is always Fort Collins an hour south if you want better shopping and restaurants.

I can relate. When I was 17, Jr year Central High school. Moved to Alaska. Hugh change. Extremely cold, and people are rotten in Alaska. When I became an adult, I moved back to Cheyenne. The problem is pay. Wyoming pays less than Federal minimum. Hence I wasn't making enough and moved to Utah to get a trade skill. Then I stayed.

We'd like to stay off of people's radar. You're not helping. Fortunately many of the liberals who trashed the states they lived in leave after one of our lovely 6-7 month long winters. Wyoming is windy year round, but wait till winter to find out what real wind can be like. Keeps some of the riff raff back in their sunny home state.

I-80 through Wyoming in the winter is the worst interstate to travel. That came from some truck drivers. I receive in orders so I see a lot of drivers. Casper was suppose to be the capital. That is why we her the 1 on our license plate and 2 is Cheyenne.

Wyoming was NOT a republican state until lately. The state has been a centrist stat for centuries. Before the last 30or 40 years we always had one Republican Senator and one Democrat Senator. Our Congress person was a Democrat for about 80 years. The republicans here now are newbies from mostly southern states. If you want to come to Wyoming don’t ever say”that’s not how we did things back home. We don’t care how you did it back home and you are welcome to go back home!!!

Had two road rage incidents with old-time WY locals during the last couple of years. First one tried to run us off the road. The second got tired of us putting groceries in our car in the parking lot and kamikazied full-speed into my driver's door. Newcomers and tourists are viewed as subhuman by some of the long-time residents, if you get in their way, they see nothing wrong with hurting you.

Wyoming, the Cowboy State, is what Texas "thinks" Texas is. Wyoming is a much tougher environment than Texas.
Also: I would love to live 10 to 20 miles outside of a town like Cheyanne. That would be amazing since I live in the Burbs.

In Wyoming the winters often reach around -20, and about 1 out of 5 people take guns on them or in their vehicles, when B.L.M. came to town both armed citizens and police followed close by to make sure things stayed peaceful and nothing caught fire. Before 2k difference could get you hurt but after 2k there are pride centers in most cities but go getting forceful and insisting people change to your ideology and you could see some active resistance. I walk the streets at night and nothing ever happens to me but that is because all the gun toting cowboys, and police protection, means nobody wants to start any serious stuff. Wind is the worst part people from Florida and California have said they thought wind only had sound in the movies but you can wake up to the sound of a gang of hoodlums trying to tear apart your house only to find it is around 70 M.P.H. winds banging stuff on your house. Cheyenne is also different from the other big cities in Wyoming, and there are small towns that would fit in one neighborhood of the cities, and the smaller it is the less you want to try to change it.

Just to be clear, unlike Wyoming who had a county vote Democratic. The Great State of Oklahoma, no counties voted Democratic. This goes back at least as far as the Obama era.

I love the State of Wyoming, historical and conservative with a Cowboy touch. Unfortunately, the Winters are long and cold, but nothing is perfect in this world. ❤

Cheyenne don't represent our state very well just like most big cities don't represent the state their in. Come to the small towns and rural areas to see the real Wyoming. Our town has had about 3500 people for 40 years. As for politics I think we have about 3 maybe 4 democrats. Maybe a couple more that won.t admit it. Everyone gets along with other people but we don't need any more.
