Absolutely spot on tip, Alex. The only suggestion I would make is instead of using "one clubhead inside your lead heal", I would suggest that you instead line up a particular distance behind the lead heel or with a specific spot on your chest. The reason I say this is because one clubhead behind the lead heel may be fine for a fairway wood, but a hybrid has a much smaller head and a shorter shaft and as such the ball position must be closer to the middle of the stance rather than one clubhead behind the left heel.

Great drill. On a side note I was watching a tournament yesterday that went into playoff mode. As usual it is late in the day and daylight is running out. After the players signed their scorecards they are driven back to the tee, they tee off and than have to walk to their ball. They tied the hole and where driven back to the tee, and now take a nice stroll to their balls. To me this makes no sense at all. If you are in a playoff situation and it is getting darker, save time and drive them to their balls.

Excellent demonstration Alex on how to hit the fairway wood and hybrid! I usually play my ball on the fairway wood about one clubhead ahead of center and the hybrid just slightly ahead of center with my hands on both just inside my left thigh. I like your suggestion of a "string attached from the sternum to the butt end of the club" and never slacking this string! An excellent subconscious thought which I will use.

Alex - good tips as always, just a thought as someone who is red/green colour blind when you use the red golf balls I find it hard to see, it’s the same if I used a red tee unless I see the shape of it I can easily lose it. It is a common condition and must be effecting others. It seems bizarre to others that can see red poppies in a green field that it is difficult to spot. Just saying - your quick golfing tips however are always good - thanks.

Off topic. What is your game ball

I usually can make good contact with all my clubs expect for my woods and hybrids when not teed up. Will definitely give this a try. Went to the range yesterday and was topping at least 80%-90% of these clubs, so frustrating. This would be a game changer , usually i have to hit my 5 iron knowing that if i use a wood or hybrid it will probably result in a poor shot or even a lost ball.

Took my woods and hybrids out of my bag, I make solid contact but can`t stop the slicing with them.

The string swing thought was the only thing I used this past weekend and I scored both days in the 70s. Simple and great! Thanks. I just started following you and am enjoying your knowledge and style of teaching.

I've just recently started golfing and I do have trouble hitting a hybrid.. alot of tops and pulling the ball?? Let's hope this helps my hybrids

My favourite club in the bag is my 5 wood. I have also just ordereda 7 wood, both Ping G425 Max clubs. That with the Driver makes up my woods. Love them.

good tip! I have a good setup routine for each club, but not necessarily a good quick drill to get a feeling at contact. I'll start adding to my pre shot routine.

Alex, your tips are awesome. They're so easy to follow. I hadn't swung a club in 5+ yrs and just started playing again. I couldn't figure out why I constantly slice my drives. A male friend looked at my clubs today before we teed off and noticed my shafts are 65g. He said, "I bet you're constantly hitting to the right. No offense, but your clubs are way too heavy." I'm a 61 yr old female. Is he right? Would I benefit from lighter clubs? I don't want to spend a fortune, so I'm considering the Calloway Strata. Thoughts? Thanks for your guidance!

Alex, my entire set of clubs (2 thru PW) are hybrids. Should I be using the same set up for every club?

It’s easy to hit off the flat level fairway, try that in South west Pennsylvania , where the ball is never or seldom at the same level as one’s feet!!!😢

Alex, I love your stuff; great content great delivery. A question: Swing thoughts, what do you do? I often have so much going in my head about the swing and positions I am confusing myself. HELP!

Very good tee peg drill ... we don't use tee pegs enough as guides in our rounds. Whenever I play with friends I always point out that these are just practice rounds, unless they aren't of course, and that I'm wanting to improve My game. I've used tee pegs on putting greens and put them next to my ball on the tee to give me guides.

I also really liked the use of the club as a plumb bob to show the potential arc of the club, never thought of that before but it's a good and instant vidsual to use Alex. Great video, Mike

Hi Alex. Ive never been a great golfer and at 53 will never be one but after 4 months on a VR machine i cannot hit my woods. I had probs hitting my irons after playing VR but ive got the feeling back and can hit them now. Woods and driver nowhere near. Top them all and straight right. Have you got a good tip for the driving range ? Will never play VR Golf again. Hitting balls with no clubs and weight has ruined me lol

Thanks Alex. Your tips have dropped my HC from 14 to 12 this year and helped me break 80 for the first time.

I watch a lot of these videos and the common thread is that many of them seem to take place on what appears to be an abandoned golf course. None of these instructors seem to realize that 99% of your viewers have no such access to practicing off-turf, much less on an abandoned golf course. No golf course would even consider letting anyone on some back of the course unused fairway. We are restricted to hitting off worn-down dirty mats at overused driving ranges. We cannot put golf tees in front and back of the ball to do such practices. Your videos have nothing to do with the reality that most of us face trying to practice our game. Your exercise has merit, but not in most recreational golfer's real world.
