Wow, that is just amazing.
ОтветитьYou mentioned something about lesser compatibility than the Atari 400. Does that include the 800 as well? My first computer was an Atari 800 and was looking into getting one of those but I then started looking at the Atari 800XL since it had more RAM but are there Atari 800 programs I wouldn't be able to use on there? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
ОтветитьMy dad's family computer was a Apple 2 his first personal computer was a Commodore 64 my mom's first computer was an Atari 800
ОтветитьNice video. One little piece of nitpicking though: there is no 130 XL. I think you meant to refer to a 130 XE (which had 128 kB RAM, like the Commodore 128). The XE line was basically the cost reduced version of the XL (which was in turn the cost reduced version of the late 1970s originals: the 400 and 800). The higher end models of the XL, such as the 1850 XLD, which would have been an Amiga compatible system (designed by former Atari 8-bit engineers), were all cancelled when Jack Tramiel left Commodore and bought Atari's home computer division from Warner Communications (they kept the arcade division and all the other divisions were killed off).
ОтветитьGreat Job ! Impressive !
Ответитьbelle restauration. Vive Atari !
ОтветитьTruly a labour of love. Well done.
ОтветитьAt this point it's just making a new computer
ОтветитьMost incredible thing is it still had the protective film!!!
ОтветитьYou have a really soothing voice!
Ответитьi think you can buy my UNPACKED ORIGNAL 800XL!!!
Ответитьi seen this video 3 times it must be if not the best restore video i have ever seen ... and I seen A lot --- but there are plenty good ones .. including The 8 Bit Guys :D lol
ОтветитьFinally! Do you know how hard it is to find restorations with voiceovers?
ОтветитьHey! Why your boxes for tools and spare stuff, are in Polish language like "kondensatory" or "szczotki"?
ОтветитьI’ve still got my XL in the loft, I did nearly all my college course work on it, it’s with the great big floppy disc drive double density and my my BBC b.
ОтветитьGreat job!!!:) "Szpachłówka uniwersalna" from NOVOL:D
ОтветитьI prefer The 8-Bit guy's style.
ОтветитьI whitened my C64 + 1541-II set with sandpaper. It is white and smooth: D
Ответитьwow, amazing job
ОтветитьI really enjoyed this episode. Thank you for restoring such beautiful machine.
ОтветитьPeri, how is everything you use to repair it (on) Polish? Are you secretly one of us? 😶
ОтветитьWhy the shield in Atari 800xl was important? What is the additional function of the shield?
ОтветитьMaybe someone already asked asked I missed it but, any idea how long this restoration took?
ОтветитьI didn´t know somebody could do REBUILDING a case so literally. I didn´t even know It´s doable. This was pretty interesting :)
ОтветитьI had a girl that I had to break up with can he fix it
ОтветитьBuen trabajo!!👍
ОтветитьThis is one of the best examples of a labor of love 💓
ОтветитьJust bought a 65XE with a few issues. After watching this, I got motivated and had a go at my own refurbishment. So glad I did.. love these old 8bit Atari’s 😁
ОтветитьUNBELIEVABLE...!!
You're the "Bob Ross" of restoration!
You did a great job at refurbishing an Atari 800XL personal home computer system. Any fan of the Atari systems would be proud to have this refurbished computer. 👍
ОтветитьAmazing resurrection. I’ve come back and rewatched this video several times. Who doesn’t love a story of bringing back a life once thought lost.
ОтветитьBravo!
ОтветитьDobrze widzieć dobrze zrobioną polską robotę! ;)
ОтветитьI am amazed that you all were able to restore that computer!! I was missing my 130 XE and 800 XL, but this just make it worse. My heart about broke when I seen the condition you got this in. I'd be interested to know what happened to that computer.
ОтветитьThat's the first computer I ever owned. I stayed up late, played it until the disk drive broke and had to be replaced and kept playing it. I couldn't find any programming guides so tried a couple of times to type in the programs from commodore magazines. Clearly I had no idea how coding worked back then!
ОтветитьThat is really a great job, fascinating, no professional would take a time do such artwork . It need a real will and passion to do it. congratulation. One more on legacy to introduce to next generations.
ОтветитьYou my friend are a A' class tinkerer. It looked impossible, but as we know, nothing really is. I can see how this can be gratifying, not sure if it's worth the time though. Especially if you put in all the man-hours & spares. Of course if you didn't do this, I wouldn't know if it is actually possible. Thank you, this channel is becoming my favourite past time.
ОтветитьPete is indeed a genius. I wonder if this technique would work on the weird material of my C= V364, though I would first have to wonder if I even should.
ОтветитьI love this video! Atari 800XL was my very first 'Home Computer', and I played a lot of it. Wish I still can get one!
ОтветитьPro Tip: The fact that you can refurbish something does not mean it is worth the effort or expense (time is money too).
ОтветитьATARI 800XL🥰🥰🥰
ОтветитьWow, so much work went into that. Even the bit about replicating the texture - that's very clever.
Ответитьyes. wow 4 years ago! lol
ОтветитьEres un genio!!! Felicitaciones
Like para tí
Stellar Repair/Refurb Wow!
Ответитьamazing job
ОтветитьHi what shade of white did you use to spray the Atari 800xl
ОтветитьI just wanted to say thank you to everyone. It is really nice to see that you liked this small restoration job of mine. Also, I would like to thank Chef Peri for making this awesome video - it is a top-notch work! I must admit that I did a lot of mistakes while working on this unit. It is all described in details on my blog. However, because of learned lessons you can expect way better outcome with my future extreme refurbishing projects ... and there are quite a few. I just need more time ;)
