Join me as I transform my tree into a magical pastel coquette Christmas tree.
Once I select the location in my living room for my King of Christmas tree, I'm going to use the basket tree collar I've been using for years, but I'm changing out the ribbon to match the stockings I made using vintage sheets.
Now let's make some fun DIY ornaments, starting with vintage-looking bells. I bought cheap jingle bells at Hobby Lobby and I apply Rub N Buff in vintage gold to give them an antique look. Then, I coordinate about 10 inches of ribbon to make the hanger loop.
I use air-dry clay to make ornaments using cookie presses. They're so easy to make. Warm up a large ball of air-dry clay in your hands. Work it between your hands to make it the same length as the press. I sprinkle a bit of flour on my working surface so the clay won't stick. I use a wooden dowel to work out the clay into the shape I need. I add a little flour to the press as well. Lay the clay on the mold and press it in. Flip it over and pull the press away.
Cut the edges away using a ruler. I put some flour on the edge to keep it from sticking. Now, we need to make a hole in the top for the ribbon. Be sure not to put the hole too close to the top, or it will crack. After drying overnight, add your ribbon.
I use a long strip of fabric from the vintage sheets to make the tree topper. Once I tie a large bow at the top of the tree, I trim the tails at an angle to finish the look.
Let's add adorable wool mice ornaments. They're a perfect match for our coquette theme.
I wanted to add large white ball ornaments to the tree, so I cut more fabric to create bows to hang them with.
Real candles on silver clips add charm and vintage character.
I'm adding pink velvet bows I found on Amazon. They come with a small wire you use to just twist it onto the branch.
After adding a few more air-dry clay ornaments, the pastel coquette Christmas tree is done!
