They point at the "lambs" aka those who try to do better than being predatorial.

They're not trying to figure me out, they're trying to avoid to figure themselves out and they do so by looking for all sorts of excuses to attack me or whoever is looking at a bigger picture that they refuse to acknowledge.
If they refuse to accept that cruelty-free is the way to go, they attack anyone who sees it instead of looking at the mistake of cruelty itself.
