Buying a used BMW X5 (F15) - 2013-2018, Buying advice with Common Issues

The F15 started in 2014. The last year of the E70 was 2013.

Rear air spring, Transfer case, Rear differential, Front drive shaft is catastrophic defect.

Can any one tell me if 2017 x5 35d worth to buy? I intent to buy without warranty. Do you think should i buy it with warranty?

I have a X5 M50D. Worn cardan sharft needs checking every 100.000km. Front to rear distribution gearbox - if that sees up, it will tear the bottom half of the engine. Lifetime on a set of breaks 100.000km (€1.200 all way around disks and pads).

if you dont like drama- avoid these money pit vehicles. looks nice- great performance - but it will create a big hole in your pocket- its better to buy these vehicles brand new with extended warranty .

The BMW is a little bit better handling car then the Audi Q7 my sister has a Q7 I have the X5 3.0 the X5 handle and break a lot better than her Audi and her Audi is newer those European car do have plenty of oil leaks such as valve cover gasket also the oil separator apart from that keep the Beamer maintain and you'll have a good car

The N63TUBB4-M3 4.4L V8 was introduced in X5’s in 2018. This “TU3” update of the N63 has updated valve guides and thus will not burn oil.

If you haven't done the crankcase vent pipes replacement, do them now.

get the diesel, and delete all the DPF/EGR systems, and you'll have a beast of an suv

Ok so basically we had a x drive 35d 2018 and when we were driving it stopped we had it towed and they said about a problem about like the diesel thing anybody else have this?

This piece of junk breaking down left and right. Why I know it? Because I have a 2012 BMW X5 and it is at the dealer now with an estimate of more than $8000 to repair all the issues. The car is worth less than $12000 now. What a piece of junk! one thing breaks down after another. Before this I also got a 2003 X5 thru “built-it-yourself “ program, got it with less than 6 miles. Major problems started after 3 years. My recommendation: do not buy BMW X5 with more than 5 years old
