Both of you are spot on about the game approach of players these days (especially in the Premier League).They seem to be struggling to interpret the game in play. Adaptability, game management, flow.

It seems the idea of tactics/set-ups are taking too much forefront in the minds of these players, and not all of them can adapt to that to full effect.

While it works for some teams, it doesn't for all. Nearly all of the most successful and entertaining teams of times gone by have been made up partly by incredibly talented individuals that express themselves through their game and held together by highly driven grafters with good fundamentals and a lot of discipline. I think that balance was the key to their success.

Football is drifting towards being just another physically dominated sport, and for me personally, it's taking the shine off the game.

I always want to see the game improving, but I hope the technicality and flair that makes the beautiful game what it is isn't lost along the way. (Currently for me it is fading)
